My auto diff from the 328 was 3.07, manual ratio for the car is 2.97. So close its not worth changing. I run a 3.64 lsd but thats a different story.

If yours is a 5speed auto your diff ratio should be fine(has nothing to do with the computer). I have done this, there are quite a lot of small bits and pieces you need.

I can relate to the poor throttle response, the fly by wire in the e46 is shocking compared to the cable in the e36. Nothing nothing Goooo. The adaptive programme in the ecu probably exacerbates it. Sounds like your cars in sleepy mode. Unless your consistently using it reasonably hard it will be a little sluggish.
