I know of one 3.1lt M20 with std intake manifold, 'barn door' AFM and STD Motronic ECU that has the measure of E36 M3s and the throttle response is excellent.

I _think_ the genuine is plastic and will be quite flexible, fibreglass is likely much stiffer and you'll prolly be able to see the fibreglass matting on the back of it. As for weight, the difference is less than you really need to worry about. Edit; and the genuine should have factory markings on it.
