500hp for $8k from a M20, LOL. I'd be lucky to get 500hp from my 1JZ with $8k, and I wouldn't even need to do any engine work!! Let alone a full forged engine rebuild (pistons/rods). A'well, good thing dreams are free!! ps. it's Quest 4 not "for"

The I6 anyday!! The early M60's (read E34 540's) had bore issues and are prone to flogging out!! Not to mention all V8 E34's have the hideous "wide kidney grill". I'd imagine the 3.6 would have as much (if not more) torque as the 4.0 V8 and an extra 30 odd HP.

I forgot to take a pic of the Koni Coilovers sitting with my Brembo's & BBS's.

And in one of those boxes is....

WTF are you mad!! Swap a rare as buggery E30 wagon for a sedan or coupe. I'll swap my E30 shell!!! Just have to swap over all the running gear & engine.

I'll try and find the email Gus. It was from someone down south I think. It is good value really as you will have a brand new LSD. Maintenance free, just change the oil!! You don't define the lock-up % like a conventional plate LSD, the are infinitley variable, do a google on torsen LSD's lots of good explanations on how they work. I think you can choose the torque split ratio 3:1 5:1 etc... Basically if one wheel has X amount of torque it will send 5*X to the other wheel which has more traction. Torsen LSD are also compatable with BMW Traction control as it complement the use of the brakes to achieve the desired traction. Where as a conventional LSD essentally induce loss of traction to one wheel to provide torque to the other (in a very tight +75% diff that is.

must have missd you on MSN. But Yeah, basically. For Medium case diffs: E30, E28, E24, E23, Z3 (incl Mcoupe/roadster) all share the same diff. The E2* have different rear covers & swap for E30 ones. The E2* & Mcoupe/roadster have bigger stub axle flanges, swap in your E30 ones. Clear aas mud!! I was speaking GAC in Chch who do the rebuilds/increase lock up etc... on the LSD's. Mention it was very expensive because BMW no longer supply the LSD clutch disc and he has to get them made @ $90ea (there are 2 stock, he upgrades to 6=$$$), plus all your normal rebuild costs!! Ends up $$$$$. I worked it out and it was more cost effective to get a Quaife ATB $1600ish (TORSEN or Mechanical LSD), once it's in you never have to touch it again, just oil changes!!

stating the obvious but, it has "Chromies" & "Rice Lights" Poor E36

6Cyl E30, 6Cyl Z3 & M coupe/roadsters & E28's have the same diff. The E28 & Mcoupe/roadsters have larger axle flanges that can be interchanged with your E30 6cyl ones. The E28's have a different rear cover (that will not fit a E30), but your E30 6cyl one will bolt on. The Mcoupe/roadsters have a large finned diffcover that will fit the E30 (The ETK won't say it's a matched part because it was not a part for the E30). These are different to the E36 diff, but they do share the same LSD centre (matched from the ETK). Best to find out if it is a small or medium case diff also. NB: Not all 6cyl models have medium case diff!!

I have a TT Soarer engine w/supra 5spd in my e30. It is a tight squeeze!!

The one I find the most impressive is the EVO VIII, it is prolly the cheapest cars on that list and it came in 13th!!! Who ever said Jap is Crap!! (bit of bias for an ex-EVO owner too)

Welcome aboard Petone, there are quite a few of us in Wgtn now (4-5 in petone even). We are overdue for a meet as alot have new/recently modded rides that we all need to have a look at. I'll try and get something arranged early July when some of the palmy guys will be down!!

Gus, I take it you have read all the reports about these (and other eccentric bushes)!?!?! I could have got these as part of the group buy I did earlier this year but I did not due to the problems people have adjusting them and them coming out of adjustment over time. I think I sent you through the link that shows how to modify the subframe using OEM bmw parts. I recommend using this method. my 2c.

You're thinking of the M5 throwing stars Sam, M-system II's I think they are called. Those are the E36 M3 M-Contour wheels, there was a set forsale on trademe about 3 weeks ago, I got Grant to check them out. the guy wanted $1500 incl tyres!! But yes, they are nice!!
-
yes, but someone deleted the post from the group buys section!!! They will be the same as the turner motorsport ones, unless I come up with something really tricky!!

Adjustable top plates are the best way to go. I'm working on a design at the mo. Stay tuned. The other option is there are pre-set offset top plates from BMW, they are meant to be used when you've had a prang to bring the alignment setting back to stock'ish.

Well, I still need a pair. If any of you E36 guys need new shocks or want to upgrade drop me a PM as I can do you a deal on some new bilstein sports in exchange for your old shocks + cash!! Please, some one must have a pair!!!

Sorry to hear that Sam, what a bummer!! My sister sounds like she has been down the exact same road, she had the operation you mentioned in about 1999 also, fortunately she has been fine since. Hope things work themselves out for the better.
