  1. Does any one have the clutch pedal, master cyl and hoses? That or a full pedal assembly. I think the e36 sedans/coupes are the same as a compact. Steve
  2. Good to know, thanks Michael and ill look into it. This forum is quite helpfull!
  3. Its been a good week! Thanks to Targa passing and putting the off road racing prep ive been involved with on the back burner I got to spend the weekend in the shed. Engine is in!! Was expecting the rear gearbox mounts to be completely wrong with the M52 but turns out they bolted up to some unused mounting holes, Score! The gear stick even comes out of the tunnel at the right place so no cutting required. Also I thought the power steering system wasn't going to mount up but again but BMW are a pack of geniuses! The M52 unit bolts up to the engine and compact steering rack perfectly. Altho I do plan on using a Z3 rack so this may turn out differently.... we will see. I Just have to pack up the engine mounts a tad and drop the sway bar a little to help with a small clearence issue. Im keeping the cage but cant use the floor mounted pedal box. Not cool and not sure if I will even use a pedal box at the moment. A lot of money. Have got a sparco seat, have made up my own alloy seat brackets as the sparco ones are over $200. I made a set for less than $30. Will need to chop into the tunnel to get the seat more central as its about four inches off the steering wheel center line. Quite a bit so may even have to move the wheel towards the outside of the car. stink Still cant find the camera but will have some photos in the weekend.
  4. Hmm! Im going to try that next time! good idea.
  5. Hey all, Im on the hunt for a "Sparco evo 2 plus" seat. I need to dummy up a seat posision in my compact as soon as I can. Ive got a couple on order but are still five weeks away by boat and I think I may have problems with fitment so need to know soon as.... Does any one know of anyone who has one and is willing to let me take good care of it for a week?? This would be amazingly helpfull! Thanks Steve, 0226740961

    angeleyes

How much are they and do you have a picture?
  7. Update, No photos yet sorry. Have sorted the flares and the rest of the kit so will be getting the extract same kit in my first post. I was keen on a kit from the Netherlands but the language barrier was to much hassle. Wont be here for aprox six-seven weeks..... The main hoop and two front bars have been done but im not to happy with them so it may have to be redone. Most if not all the seam sealer on the top side is done but have decided to leave the bottom half as its such a bitch to get off. Next part is to see where and how to mount the floor mounted pedal box, I managed to thief one from my old mans as he is replacing his. Problem is it will have to sit quite far back from the fire wall as the cylinders hang off the back by about 100 mm. A fire wall mounted set up would be ideal but as ive got a free one im super keen to use it if I can! I'm quite tall so my seat is going tom have to go back further in the car, unfortunately I think the main hoop is in the way. I wanted it angled backwards to create more room but it hasn't been made how I wanted it. I have decided on Sparco seats with the drivers side either being a Corsa or an Evo 2 plus. Im a skinny lanky bastard and they seam to fit me nicely. Also I plan on using a Hans device so I needed the belt holes in the right location. They wont be in the country for at least another six weeks.... Id really like to get it earlier as I want to dummy up the pedals, and seat with the cage in. Ahh
  8. HDR? I dont get that LTBMW. Its a two door with full interior rear seats that you cant get to because of a half cage? And it has a set of massive weighty subs in the back. Its either a race/track day car or its not. One or the other in my opinion. Does look nice tho! Id like to own this:
  9. BNT sells it. I dont like it tho. I think it masks the problem instead of fixing it.
  10. As the title says, im after both right and left rear steel brake pipes that are attached to the swing trailing arm. Let me know if you have them, am on the shore. Steve 0226740961 Edit: this is for a rear disc braked car. No idea if they are different to drums?
  11. Ohh and ill try and make it for a couple of drinks, have a bit of work to do at 6 but should be finished around 7.
  12. Sweet, I got Rays name wrong in the above post but I have spoken to him. Will try and ring Slater fabrication tomorrow. Thanks!
  13. Thanks guys, I was aware the main hoop size but its the OD that has changed to 44.5mm, the wall thickness is still 2.5mm. Thanks for Rays contact, had a chat and he also pointed me towards the ERW tube. According to him its hard to get the FIA approved tube in NZ so that's why we use ERW instead. If the car was to be raced over seas then ERW wouldn't comply so CDS or an equivalent would have to be used. Cheers Tony, Will ask for spec sheet from Atlas steel. As for the pub, what time and where?
  14. I had some compact airbags on TM for $50 for a few weeks with no takers. My theory was if the airbags had gone off the car usually has some pretty major damage. They do fail every now and then and wont pass a WOF so id suggest keep them on TM for a month or three. Then if all else fails, blow them up
  15. Are there any so called experts out there that can help me with roll cage steel? From what I know most people in the club sport levels of racing use ERW tube and thats what has been suggested to me. But from doing a bit or research it seams most people in Europe and the US wont touch the stuff and think its rubbish. From what I understand Chrome molly and (from what ive read) T45 is often used but at a thinner wall thickness to save weight and has an added expense of an engineers report and more labor in welding construction costs. I really don't have any background info on T45 but it looks like its the bees knees over in the US and Europe but looks like its mega expensive. Similar to Ch molly? With my budget CDS, I think, is the next option. Let me know if im wrong. The only experience ive had with CDS is limited but I know its a hell of a lot harder to bend up than ERW tube so this unscientific approach, what I read on the net and the fact that its FIA approved is largely what im basing my decision on at the moment. Good or bad? Am still waiting to find out prices.... As I said earlier I have been pointed towards ERW as its the standard over here and is well proven, has any one had experience with CDS? Cheers
  16. Yup, any tarmac clubsport events, Taranaki tarmac rally and if possible id love to do a Targa event. If I can help it I dont want to go to the trouble of fabricating or a major retro fit of the rear suspension and hope to keep the swing arm set up. Whos E30 is that btw? Cheers
  17. I agree with keeping things stock if its possable. Good idea on the e46 lower arms, it looks like it should push the bottom out by 35mm, altho im not to sure what im going to do with the strut tops yet. That Harry Hockly kit isnt as wide as it looks (1750mm from memory) but im still waiting to hear back from another company so hope to have the kit sorted in a week or so. Some one mentioned gravel tyres? I wont be running on gravel so no problem there. I got a bit bored of seam sealer removal today and decided to try the GTR's front guards etc on the car.... To wide?? Also removed all the intrusion bars, the curved ones were in the rear connected to the B piller, jacking point in the sill and rear wheel arch. My only guess is its there for the rear passenger/s in case of a side impact and also to help with strengthing the jacking point. I may need to add some gussets as I still intend on using the jacking point but it was just to damn heavy to leave it in as it was. They dont look like it but they are heavy!!!
  18. Albany had one about 20 years ago that also killed one guy. Came home this time to fire engines, about a dozen police cars a sh*t load of (what i think?) inspectors checking out roofs. Neighbours tramp is missing and cant find it haha. Kind of exciting
  19. Thanks for the info so far, have to sort it out sooner or later. Not a lot to update, have been busy and have only really been attacking that bloody seam sealer. Fun fun I like the clean look and had planed to seam weld the whole car but after the bitch of a job removing most of the sealer inside im not really wanting to attack the bottom half! Wont get much done this weekend either due to family comitments. Here are the goods I have:
  20. Also still have a heater box if any one is interested
  21. Have a set of front and rear seats that are free to who ever wants them. There not mint by any means but maybe better than nothing. Drivers seat has small rip. just dont want to throw them out. Pick up on the shore only.
  22. ....Wow... I hadnt seen this one before. Must have been an awesome feeling to be in that. A lot of trust in your codriver thats for sure. Im not saying the rear suspension is bad and there are many point of views, Ive just been convinced to one of them. Wont be doing mutch work on the car this weekend as im away down in the south island but am still doing a bit of research on body kits at the mo. Does any one know how much wider Z3 arms are compared to E30??
  23. Ive got a heater box out of an E36 compact. you can take it away for a box of beers PM me.
