Thanks everyone for the replies Does going through a broker cost more... and if so how much extra would we expect to pay (ballpark figure) for the 323i M-sport? We're seriously considering selling it atm as a solution to the insurance. Interesting how the CSL is classed as a 4 door.

Who are you with now Gus?

1. quiested ride - NOT Conti's, have them right now and boy are they noisy, especially at low speeds, they resonate. They also squeal easily when taking corners at low speeds! 2. best handling, wet and dry - Have heard good things about Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, Dunlop Direzza are pretty good also, friend had them on his car and said they were great. Personally have had Falken Azenis ST115 which are good. Dnz has Falken FK451 and he likes them! 3. longest life - Not too sure, but in general they shouldn't be too bad. I would think though that good handling/grip may be negatively correlated to tyre life Overall I'd try the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3.

We recently got a E36 323is (coupe), and it's a M-Tech/M-sport version which has the M-Tech interior, wheels, and M bumpers. Trying sort insurance out with ASB now, they are underwritten by IAG aka State, all was going well after telling them it was a 323i, with me and sister being under 25 being covered - insurance is under dad's name, he can get a significant discount, he's the main driver, we drive the car occasionally. Then we say it's a Motorsport. The story changes completely from then on, IAG does not want to cover under 25 drivers because the Motorsport basically turns our car into a 'high performance vehicle'. I try to tell them what Motorsport has the same engine as a regular 323, but they don't know anything. What should I do? To all you guys who have M-sport E36s, is your E36 considered a normal one... no need to mention the Motorsport? Thought full disclosure was best... seems to be a bad idea with people who don't know anything about the cars they are insuring. For what it's worth, the registration only states the car as a 323i.

Let us know how it goes with the dealer Andrew.

Can't remember any circular clip things, but I do know I didn't replace anything.
-
Sounds about right! I wonder if there are places in Auckland that can do that, other than the dealer? I read in the BMW TIS that the Jatco gearboxes had the jerky 1st-2nd shifts due to something in the software. The dealer is supposed to be able to fix it by flashing the software... but I didn't even bother because I thought it would cost me an arm and a leg. Interestingly, why does it get worse over time? I thought a software related problem would be consistent.

I like it, same as above, not really feeling the indicators. Otherwise it looks really nice! I guess you could complete the look with some Euro plates, GT splitters, LTW wing. Btw, what % of tint is allowed on the rear windows?

E36 Sedans use the same mirrors as E36 Touring, so that should make it easier for you to find one

E39 CELIS tails use LEDs on the sides of the tails to light up horizontal lines (the lines are plastic rods, similar design to angel eyes in terms of the notches in the plastic to help diffuse the light coming in from one end). The LEDs are only used for the normal 'night time' lights, brake lights, rear fogs, indicators, reverse lights all still use bulbs. So you will never need to change your rear driving lights

Ouch, not a good sight. Looks like 18"s?

Hey Rog, sorry to hear it wasn't for you, totally understand though, E39 is so quiet and refined. But is there a reason you didn't consider an E39 touring? I would think that would be a great choice, you're used to the E39 and it's practical too.

Has 1HOTM3 been sold? Would have been in your price range. Any reason for leather over alcantara Josh? I thought alcantara is better as it holds you in your seat better and I just like the look more.

Gorgeous... I like that style of wheels. It all goes together nicely. Chuck some blackline lights on and it'll be even cleaner.

Mine works fine... -
Man that sucks Josh, sorry to hear - twice in how many months? So far mine's gotten hit twice in 7 months (the last one being 1.5 months ago), plus it's Arctic Grey too... mere coincidence?

Love it aye. The Bentley is great. Always get it from overseas... did you get it from Amazon? With the current exchange rate what you paid for it still seems a litle high. $401 is just ridiculous.

Check this out: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-98006728.htm 535i does not = M5

Beautiful, especially the rear end... it's coming along nicely!

Welcome, glad to have another BMW enthusiast around

It's standard, Single DIN. Anything that can fit Single DIN will fit in there.

Woa... M745i? I've never seen that engine. Got to do some reading. Sounds like a sweet project!

I'm not sure if the E34 is different, but for E36, you'd run 17x8.5" wheels with at least 225/45/17, and it can go up to 245, even 255 no problem in terms of width. But the profile... gotta check with a tyre calculator, can't remember the exact sizes.

Sounds like tar. Try tar remover... but it *may* take off the paint if left for too long.
