do you guys recommend the skimming option first or replacing the bushes and arms?

Hey all.. just got a crank seal leak fixed last week on my e38 728 but when i got it back from the shop the driver seat and steering wheel adjustment buttons didn't work, i checked the fuse and it was blown, so did a replacement (key out) but they keep blowing.. I did the check to see if there is anything disconnected by accident but everything seems to be connected under the seat what does the crank seal repair have to do with the fuse shorting out? i took it back to the shop they said they removed batt to disconnect starter motor etc to take the transmission out for the repair job They told me to take it back and they are planning to take the seat out to check everything under the seat.. has anyone else experienced this ? any advice?

hey guys.. currently wanting to get my brakes skimmed (as i get the shakes when braking from high speeds etc) but was told new pads will be required. my current pads are quite loud with the squeals etc as ive read here with many others lol.. just wanting some recommendations for e38 front brake pads, i have searched online but im unsure of what a good option/brand is.. after a low noise/ low dust (not very important, il clean often) / good stopping option if there is one any recommendations please ? e38 728i 2000

Hi, lowering springs for e38?

Just today while driving i put down the window 1/4th the way, all of a sudden it wont go back up.. im guessing its the regulator.. i dont hear the motor but i do hear a click when i push the up button.. need this fixed asap cant have a window down everywhere. this happened once before but then i pulled it up as i pushed the button and it worked fine for a few months.. not this time though in auckland 021556963 2000 e38 782i let me know please thanks

these are pretty hard to come by.. i would say get them at a discounted price(if u can) and recon them. saw a set previously for 495 each wheel (used)

from what iv been told, the bumper, if hit a pedestrian is designed to bump people off, without it they will be dragged under the car giving a higher risk of death/injury

Hi all, got the window regulators replaced today, front left and rear right and seems to be working fine. e38 2000 728 Just one issue, the front left (passenger) window - I click to auto down and the window goes down (both passenger door switch and driver door control switch) But the going up auto click does not work (both doors as well). Any one experienced this? or any ideas? All other windows work fine, this also means when I use my remote for global window open all windows work, but when i use the key for global closing all windows except the passenger front door winds up. Also while the tech reset the air bag light a fault code of A05 came up, anyone know what this means? Let me know please Thanks

bought a new battery, tested it after installing. worked perfectly! saved my self a few $. thanks guys

yup i used this method and got it open, will just need to get a new battery and replace it.

that was for the same diamond key? thats very cheap, il give them a go if they will reglue and get everything done. thanks . also for the replacement key, has to be bought from Germany?

ok i got 1 key (the key that was working) to respond by actually touching the driver side mirror from the inside and it programmed (Thanks for that!) but it still doesnt lock when i use the lock button confused about this as that button works to program the key so the button cant be at fault? any ideas on this? the 2nd key did not respond at all (i guess its the battery..) thanks, il give this another go, i tried it at the 1st ignition position where only the radio turns on, no abs lights etc, its a Singapore import. if it was the battery that one key that was working should at least work? it is likely that the other key which had no response to begin with has a dead battery though..

Hi guys, I have a 2000 728 e38 and i got a set of 4 keys, 2 with the diamond shape keys One of the diamond keys worked with only unlocking the car and the boot. but the other key no buttons worked. I figured it was a reprogramming issue as I read that these keys recharge batteries when in the ignition. I tried the standard method of ignition, remove within 5 secs, hold unlock button and 3 times press the lock button and release. nothing happened (it was meant to unlock and lock to show that the keys have been programmed..) and also my working key doesn't work anymore lol.. I have searched the net and read the manual as well but this is the method i found. Any ideas :S? any help would be appreciated !

Thanks for all the help! but ever since i picked it up after i gave it to the workshop for testing i noticed that the top row of leds on my stereo had disappeared (thought it was due to abs unit) but now that hasn't come back. il have to look into it, any ideas?
