I agree with the statement that Smith and Smith staff seemed 'under pressure'. There was a lot of negative energy in the place at the time! I won't be using them again once this is fixed, and will be asking them to make sure the windscreen seal is completely free of moisture when it is refitted, and be asking for new carpets- I have been 'Febreze-ing' them daily but you can never get that beautiful BMW smell back! The next best time they could give me is Tuesday. Fingers crossed!

I had the windscreen on my BMW replaced by Smith and Smith a few months ago, anyway it is now leaking through the seal and has soaked everything in my glovebox. I took it back into Smith and Smith Petone, and was served by a blunt, bordering on rude woman who told me it could not be fixed till next Thursday (when I am conveniently going to be under general anaesthetic!) The Smith and Smith TV advertising campaign shows an old man having his windscreen fixed by a Smith and Smith mobile van many years after it is fixed, free of charge, and straight away. I am happy to take my car into a depot to have it fixed, but over a week seems like a long wait, and still water seeps in, making my car damp, and risking rust. I plan to complain to their head office, and insist that the problem is immediately fixed. But what are my rights if the car gets rust or other damage from having water stuck behind the seal?

My brother was sideswiped by a young man in an unwarranted car with no insurance the other day, who conveniently claimed destitution. In Britain, it is illegal to have a car on the road without insurance! Our government is a bit soft on trash delinquents with huge fines, there was a group of guys at highschool a few years ago who 'competed' with eachother to get fines. I buy a year's rego at a time, and feel guilty(and vulnerable in insurance terms) having my warrant a few days overdue! The fine system is really just fruitless after a thousand dollars or so- the offenders are 99% young and have no way of getting several thousand dollars- I'm all for public flogging to solve this problem. Being publicly flogged by some sadistic guy in black leathers wouldn't have so much kudos in the hood as a $40,000 fines bill would.

A white lady with a large bonecarving came into my work and tried to make me say "Manuka" 'properly', like a Maori Elder had told her. I told her to sod off. Quite often it's some practical whitey with a bonecarving and a 77th of Maori blood lecturing in Pan-Pacific Maori Biculturalism at the local Wananga that is telling you what to do. I thinkt he vast majority of Maori wouldn't care- or fit the Fiat buyer demographic!

Too right, my FL 318i was registered new in June 1988 in Wellington, but was built in November 1987... Whereas my parents bought a Pre- FL 320i/A4 brand new on 1st February 1988, and it had a November 1987 build plate on it.

I rather like Sea-Rescue orange. I don't see why you lot want to rid the world of it!

Contact TVNZ or CanWest (TV3) and ask who made the ad, or even AMP's head office- someone there should be able to tell you which agency made it, or may even give you a copy- I have had to get copies of ads for uni before, isn't too hard especially if they are still current. TV Archives NZ is great for older ones, and a damned good laugh sometimes too!
