Svc Centre (Independent, Non dealer Svc Centre) 45 Brisbane St 03 3656500 Both these 2 specialise in BMW, I get mine seviced at Motorworld Automotive 9 - 11 Waller Tce (off Moorhouse Ave ) They were recommended to me by Alan Milligan cars (who sell a lot of BMW's) and svc all there BM's, they know what there talking about and you'll find their labour rate is more customer freindly (cheaper) Ian

Hi Jochen; The 395 is the last numbers off the one on my car at present. Looking at sites in the states the numbers they have are 946 etc and the prices ranges from $340.75 to $279.00.Waiting for info back on shipping from Bavarian Autos, Pelican Parts, OEM Bimmerparts and Advance b.m.w parts. Will pm you the info and that would be great to have it checked to see if I'm on the right track with the part number etc. Just had a look on realo.com and the only on still current is 64546921395 at $335.92US the other two listed have ended.

  21. FIXED! So it turns out the distributor was definitely out of whack, and needed to be re-adjusted, which is annoying as it's such a simple fix but because l-jetronic e30s aren't well-documented nobody mentions this in any guide. Here's where I put it, the tape mark on the side of the distributor is once again the mark where #1 cylinder spark plug wire is. Once again, huge thanks to the people on this forum who helped, especially Glenn from @B.M.W Ltd.
  22. just a word of warning for the CHCH guys looking for a indepedant specialist This place B.M.W Service Centre - 45 Brisbane ST, Waltham, has the WORST customer service ever I orginised to get my car, 1999 E39 528i, serviced there for its warranty service, got there this morning, went in, and no joke 40 seconds later the convo went Mechanic- "know much about these cars?" Me- " nah not too much" Mechanic- " yeah they're peices of sh*t" < No lies, exact words Thats ok, not too happy but a family member reccommended him and said he was abit rough and brash, i thought sweet thats ok, his opinion Get inside and ask what grade oil he uses Mechanic- "any oil" (thinking hes a know it all C*NT by now) Me- "could you use 10w40 please?" Mechanic- "Nah, any oil will be fine" Me- "well my E30 and E36 at home run on it so if you could use it it'd be good, if it ever needs topping up i'll have oil to do it with" Mechanic avoids it and asks me to fill out a form Then on the way home i think sh*t i better check the RUDE bugger is going to put 10w40 and my fone was low on battery so I sent a text to the old lady to ring him and check She got the whole its a peice of sh*t story and i've been dealing with BMWs for 25 years She asks why? Mechanic: "oh the milage its gonna cost your son heaps to fix in the future" Mum: "whys it going to cost heaps what exactly is going to go wrong?" Mechanic: "It's the milage and they're sh*t cars i've been doing this for 25 years" (cant state anything just keeps saying they're sh*t cars) got all that bullshit out of the way and he said "Right i'll do 10w40 but the price goes up $20". so thats fine. Then he decided "Nah, come pick the car up, I dont wanna service it, it's going to be too hard, too much work" Im back at mums work by now and I said fine, would rather burn my money than give it to this useless tit. Get there and hes still going on how the milage is a problem and E39's are sh*t, at this stage im getting pissed so I walk upto him and say "what exactly is going to go wrong in your eyes then?" get the "sh*t car, 25 years" crap again, I give up. Then hes says you's seem like the sort that will bring the car back if theres a problem and blame it on me etc I said "well yeah I would have if you put the wrong oil in. but otherwise we would have rung and sorted it out. why else do I pay people. If you do the work it's your responsability if something goes wrong because of it. If the Aircon stops working im not gonna blame you am I? because you havnt worked on it!, but if the engine starts leaking oil at the filter or sump plug the day after its serviced you'd bring it back because thats where you've worked, im not unreasonable!" after this I walk out and take my car, because the guy has no people skills obviously, and its just not worth the bullshite I then went to "Elite Auto electronics" 451 St Asaph Street, as Kevin Burt couldn't fit me in and his prices were extreme and I need the car serviced this week I had the car scanned there awhile back as the airbag light was on so knew they were alright!, and the guys attitude was just amazing, easy to deal with, nothing was a problem, fitted me in today even! I used to take my E36 there also, He is a warranty approved servicer and I highly reccommend him from the previous little jobs he's done for me and i'm SURE the service will be excellent today also. We NEED a Botany Motor Works / Glenn down here! if you ever decide to expand Glenn ring me! haha id love to help with getting a reputable BMW specialist with good customer service down here! until then i'll keep using Elite Auto electronics! End Rant.
  23. Ok so today, I, unfortunately, got interrupted a few times and only got a small number of things done. I spoke to Glenn @B.M.W Ltd and he was extremely patient and helpful, he gave me some important advice on what I needed to do and I've done some of what he said already, so a huge thank you to him for speaking with me so thoroughly, an absolute legend. Here's where I'm at, I double-checked the #1 wire for resistance using this as a guide: I did this to make sure the wire labeled #1 was in fact #1 and not messed with by a previous owner, a really great idea courtesy of Glenn. It passed this test, #1 wire was connected to Cylinder #1's spark plug. I tried to do this with continuity, but it didn't work, so I switched to the way it's done in the video above. I then placed the engine at TDC and the Rotor arm faces here and turns clockwise, the tape mark on the side of the distributor is where the #1 Spark plug wire would come from on the cap. ( I ran out of twink but this way you can see it dead on and the mark all in one) Is this too worn to work? Does the timing look to be about right? I also noticed there was a vacuum line not going to this, I didn't check if it had one going to it other than the one missing, but if it only has one outlet then it's missing its vacuum advance line, is this potentially causing a no start, I didn't remove it so I imagine I bought it (running btw) without this. (just want to remind you, that I did for spark on cylinder 1 and it's there) I then did this test This was to see if my cap was faulty, I left all other wires connected, besides the #1 wire. I got no readings, even if I put one of the probes on the contact point for #1 on the inside and on the outside of #1 where the wire could connect, I got nothing in either test. I'm not versed at all when it comes to caps or rotors so my style of cap might not be susceptible to this test, or the fact that it's still connected to other wires maybe interfering. Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts if you know anything more about Caps + Rotors. (just want to remind you, that I did for spark on cylinder 1 and it's there) I then was asked by someone to see if the cam lobe was up in cylinder #1 when at tdc, it's not (at least I think) here's that photo: Was asked the same but when the rotor arm is towards cylinder #6 and to slightly crank it, here's that video: So yeah, not too much progress today, but I thought I'd keep this updated so that if anyone has similar issues they can see what I did to (hopefully ahaha) fix this. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank for the help already too.
  24. @B.M.W Ltd just one of those Bluetooth viecar things. I have cleared the fault code, the check engine light is off for now . I'm using torque lite, think I need to get the upgrade for live data. What am I checking for?
  25. Hi B.M.W Ltd. Not really sure I'm sorry I'm not a pro mechanic I'm just a dirty chef lol. But if I find anything that I need or use any tools/equipment I'll list up all with more details.
