Apex 693 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 (edited) Hi (did an intro in the meet and greet area) Im currently looking for a wagon and have my heart set on a E30 Estate, unfortunately there is only one for sale that I have found (if you know of any more let me know) so… It’s a 1989 320i with a M-Spec II kit fitted, looks to have sport seats fitted also. What do you guys think? Honest opinions appreciated, as well as some pointers. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=128952724 The seller tells me he wrecks BMW’s and has a tone of parts available also. I will be looking at suspension and engine upgrades/transplant in the future. Edited December 3, 2007 by Apex

Apex 693 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Thought you guys might know him, good to know it’s someone that’s trusted and known. It looks like a genuinely good car, is there anything you pro’s sagest I take a good look at, as in common faults?? I have previously owned a E39 528i that was a real lemon and don’t want to go through that drama again

Is that a 2.8block with a 2.0 or 2.5ltr head or something?? I wonder if the 320Igearbox could handle the jandle??
Andrew 30 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Excuse my ignorance but how is a 2.7 made?? Is that a 2.8block with a 2.0 or 2.5ltr head or something?? I wonder if the 320Igearbox could handle the jandle?? Made using the 2.7 bottom end with a 2.5 ltr head. Not a particularly great motor unless you do it correctly - search for the article posted by Gus. Gearbox isn't an issue - I only broke my 318iS gearbox at 220 rwhp and that was from abuse really. 2.7 done in a normal way would get you 130 - 150 rwhp perhaps. You can get that from a 2.5 easily also.

Apex 693 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 E39 Lemon - That dosen't sound right - What was the story? Cooling issues, electronic issues.. pretty much everything that could go wrong went wrong, must have spent 20k on repairs.
