elmarco 56 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 I am of mixed opinions when it comes to personalised plates and I own one (2TMPTN). It has only ever been on one of my cars (A VR4) cos the rest really were not up to standard. I see a lot of plates around and most of the time have a chuckle or think "yeah... good one" when they are done properly or are clever. What I CAN'T STAND though is the people that have obviously seen a plate and copied it but use a '5' for an 'S' or a '4' for an 'A' etc. My ususal response and 90% of the time out loud is "tosser". What I also don't get is the people that put the model of their car on the plate eg BMW325. Yeah I agree - a plate has to be clever. The brutally obvious statement is pretty lame (as is the use of 5 in place of S etc) but you also don't want to have to think too hard either. I did see UZAHO around a while back - crap. I personally wouldn't get one - it doesn't add any value to me (I prefer to stay under the radar ). Each to their own I guess.

JiB 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 I would LOVE a personalised plate....but I can't possibly justify $700 on one If I could, I would probably go for something geeky.
rxsumo 33 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) I don't have an issue with personalised plates...obvious or obscure, its really personal choice. We have S5BMW on the 540, only because it was a cheap BMW plate that looks a bucketload better than a standard 3 digit 3 number plate, the M535i will have 4RACN once its back on the road, thanks to trade-me we havent paid more than $200 for any of the plates we have brought over the last few years The only cars we have that dont have a personalised plate are the old cars that still run their original black plates, I think the old plates are more in character for the age of the cars. rowanhol 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 I would have one, but as so many other people have said i'd want something a little different rather than just your car model or name. one of my favourite plates i've seen is u 16yt although i wouldn't rep it haha

bravo 35 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 I guess everyone knows my plate as MSB0ND, I bought it 5years ago, unfortunately MSBOND had already been taken by another female BMW owner. NZ Euro plate cost me $650.00 back then I think. Ive seen DRFT T round a lot, does the T stand for "IT". Cant stand plates that are not so obvious. Like if you cant spell your name on a plate properly don't bother eg. I wouldnt accept Shelli DRFT T was at Daragville burnouts. N00b parked in a gateway and they were going to tow it out with a tractor. Think it stands for Drifty.

I like personalised plates (currently own 2) and have seen seen some funny ones round town. A mate of mine has just got the plate 'DATEME' on his 740i, gets alot of attention. But no dates as of yet lol Edited May 23, 2008 by efirty

McDuck 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Personal favourite, REKNAW, used to be on a Citroen in Wgtn years ago.HAHA!!! Was just thinking of that exact plate too! Heard about that plate years ago, in the early days when the Plates people wouldn't let such blatant 'offensive' stuff get through.... great way to get around it.They seem to be getting desperate for money nowadays, by selling such plates as PUNANI and PUNANE that I've previously seen around the country.
