Google Chrome

Recommended Posts

Have been testing it out... it is VERY quick!

I have to decide whether to switch from Opera though, which is also very good.

Year, seems a good browser so far, nice and simple and fast

been using it since it came out, big fan

i wouldn't consider it ultra fast, i more think of it as "how things should be". which is good

It's great, definitely quicker than IE and Firefox, though the one I'm using (not sure if it's the very latest, downloaded it the 2nd day it was out) has an issue with Facebook - you can't comment on status messages? Just a matter of time before the bugs are ironed out I'm sure.

Might have to try it then. Can you transfer all your bookmarks over from FF?

Yep, first thing that comes up is a window asking to transfer you info over. I was amazed how easy it was.

Its definitely superior to Firefox IMO.

I downloaded it when it first came out but mostly use FF.

Not being able to scroll up(only down) using the keypad on a laptop annoys the hell out of me. Agree its quick but hasn't turned me yet.

Hadn't even noticed that. But it is annoying!

It's quick, but missing the shortcuts and stability of Firefox. It doesn't seem very stable on Media Edition XP.

Firefox has been really unstable with the last couple of versions, if it wasn't for firebug and other plugins i'd switch to google chrome in an instant, i like it.

What do you mean by shortcuts? You can set your bookmark bar across the top and your done.

I'm hesitant for two reasons - I think Google is getting big to the point where it is going to pervade every application, and I'm not sure I trust one software provider that much.

But that's maybe a little bit of cynicism. my real reason is I need a browser that handles client ssl certificates.

Chrome imports them OK, but doesn't yet seem to deliver them to the client server.

Oh, and I love my Googlepedia plugin!

Plus it seems exactly the same speed as firefox to me.

It actually seems slower than the latest build of Safari to me (At least on OS X)

its definately faster, but as others have said the scroll up is annoying. Also, does anyone know how to get that little search bar up that Firefox has in the top right corner, (can choose from bunch of different search engines)

I'll stick to Opera, has been consistently better than FF and IE for the last 2 years and does it all

MY CTRL+Click and SHIFT+Click weren't working which was very very annoying. Now they do and I'm a happy chappy. Bookmark toolbar was the first thing I imported haha.

Chrome's faster than Safari on XP, especially startup.

RE: Firefox's little search bar

The little search bar and address bar have been merged, is apparently more efficient. Seems to work fine for me :) Know when to google and when to guess the address

Another reason I like FF is that its built on open source, and the engine is able to be used as the basis for other web-enabled apps (Songbird is a prime example - thats one media player to watch once it leaves beta).

Chrome startup is faster and I prefer the sleek front end - tabs at top of window, dynamic status bar, etc.

Once firefox starts up, I tried a non-scientific test opening pages in each browser and there was no perceptible difference on my connection.
