*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 Are they the ones where they grind the sidewall and then apply a rubber "paint"? Yes.. the application product costs friggen heaps
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 Not my cuppa tea either. Time attack would look cool with a bigger red wall.
zenetti 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 I actually don't mind it, something different which is always good. My only concern is with them taking away part of the sidewall casing by grinding away some of the rubber. Is that how they do it or is it painted on with a rubber paint of some description? JFry 1 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 They look mint, have to agree that black rims would be the shiz though! Pretty sure that I saw an article where the guy grinds away some of the sidewall and the stripe goes in after that. That was probably an aussie, may be the same?? blakamin 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 There was actually a kit on tardme about 2 years ago to set up a business doing this... I always hoped someone local would buy it so I could've got my 71 merc tyres done. Looked like a cross between a bench grinder and a guard-lip roller. And the price of the rubber paint... Big money. OLLIE 26 Report post Posted August 25, 2009 I don't really like them when the car is stationary. What do they look like when doing a burnout?
Shady 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2009 Doesnt look too bad - kind of matches the red part of the sticker on the rear. Would be interesting to know how they do it.
jjs 64 Report post Posted August 26, 2009 Sorry, but I think they are horrid. Something I would expect to see on a slammed [insert 80s cap car here] driving up and down Queen Street on a Saturday night. Good on you for trying something different though! volcanoblack 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2009 I like them - reminds me of the Goodyear Polyglas Redline tires made in the US back in the sixties for muscle cars.
