Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 4, 2011 Nice bro, I have a bottom end if you are planning on rebuilding it anyway. Has pretty decent compression too. Just could do with new seals and bearings etc, which you will be doing anyway.

Lucan 196 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Started doing this. Advice on a good product to remove the glue?
polley 916 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Any strong solvent to soften it up then water blast it off.
Forrest 35 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 (edited) ^ As per Polley's advice in a thread I had, I used spray degreaser and a water blaster. Buy CRC or similar degreaser, the $3 a can supercheap stuff doesn't work really - go figure. Spray then let soak in, then nuke it with the waterblaster, use a paint scraper/putty knife to help peel the glue off, then repeat, then once the glue is thin enough the rest can be wiped off with meths. Takes a while but the result is good, just be careful about shooting the waterblaster on edges/loose paint because it will blow off easy as. polley 916 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 I used engine start on mine. It waterblasted right off, needed no cleaning afterwards.
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Desolvit and a scraper. Works mint. Or a heatgun.
gouba 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 I used a plastic scraper and some solvent, bitch of a job
huff3r 347 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Wax and grease remover (prepsol or supercheap stuff), and a rag. Won't take much time, or too much effort. And no powertools required. (That sorta job is what this sh*t is made for!!!)
Lucan 196 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Only have CRC here atm so soaked it and will leave that over night. Will pick up the heat gun and everything else mentioned and go to town on the bisch tomorrow.
Lucan 196 Report post Posted July 16, 2011 Bored thread update! Well since I last posted here I've done a couple of cosmetic things. Stripped the crap foam from my bonnet, painted the underside cosmo to match the car, new insulation and decorated a panel Removed and painted my intake manifold satin black. Wired in some foot well lights And today I did my S/S braided lines up front and drilled front rotors Still to do the other 4 lines. Sighh. Also found out my rear passenger window will go down but doesn't want to go back up
