Project M325i

Recommended Posts

Recently I bought a 1989 M325i and its a bit rough so needs a bit of work to get it up to standard.

I started by giving it a clean/cut/polish and the paint came up allot better, then followed that with a bit of touch up paint, results.......

The interior is pretty mint, only thing I have changed so far is putting a clutch stop in as the clutch is brand new so takes up straight away, will be looking to add a M-Tech2 Steering wheel in the near future.....

Going to paint the valve cover black at some stage but the engine is fairly tidy. Will be adding a set of headers in the near future.....

So to tackle the car looking a bit shabby I am going to get the front valence painted as it has a rough exterior so lacks shine. Also going to get the bonnet done (so many stone chips) and maybe the front and rear bumpers.

Suspension wise I am going to get some lowering springs and new front shocks, surprisingly all the bushes are fresh so I don't have to change anything there. How common is a 3.73 LSD?

oh and I have these waiting in the garage to be assembled tonight (picking up the centers today :) )

retrorims@t-online.de, same guy "Eagle" got his lips from. Took 2 weeks for them to arrive.

Should have them on the car by Friday :)

Nice. How many black mt2s have you had now?

Also, are those tweeter triangle trims aftermarket?

this is my third MT2 diamond black e30 (my 5th black e30) and hopefully my last.

IIRC the tweeters come standard with the black headlining and map-lights on a M325i.

Nice. Same interior as me minus the extra window switches. You rolled your guards yet?

Got the wheels done this arvo, couldn't resist a trial fit but it looks odd without tires.

Interesting to see how much they come out with the tyres, ET25 rims right?

by my calculations going from a 6.5" rim ET 34 to a 8" rim should make the new offset ET15

edit - my other set of RS's are ET25

Must say, that looks depressingly amazing if that even makes sense! Depressing in the sense that I missed out on those "cheap" ones that were on this morning.

Those look bigger than 15" man..?

That's the beauty of BBS weaves man. The lips stick out and roll over to give them a bigger look :)

So I put the tires on and it looks a little odd, can't say I like it yet but when I get some lower springs it might change the look a fair bit. I'm also going to have to get the rear guards rolled a bit as its a pretty close fit.

edit- Fixed the valve leek on one of the wheels :)

Took some more, front isn't looking pretty at the moment tho.

Looks sweet. Need smaller tyres IMO

Was thinking that too, the current tires looks kind of bulky (205/55/15 on a 8" rim)

Next job is to get some lower springs as currently the front is way too high.

Lower it James!

What brand is the rubber? It does look really chunky, big sidewalls for an 8" rim!?!

got some springs off ray, The front's look to be the same height but the springs are allot shorter, think it might because they are a lot stiffer? on the other hand the backs are a bit low.

Still have to get the front tech2 painted.
