I have been looking for a project for some time, something to do in the evenings and any spare time. For some time I have been chasing a car I heard about 2 years ago that needs a bit of work.Today I swaped my M535i in beautiful condition for this ok M6.Have I lost the plot or not.

Hi there, it is definitely a M635csi. It's a 85 in Lapis Blue.

Did these come with the m88? Or just an m30 with the M bits/pieces?

Hi 1Rotty. Our plan is to remove anything thats no so good rebuild it and I guess this will take a couple of years.I intend to build a new man shed before I start this project, but I may get the motor running,do a compression test to see what I may need to do before I replace the timing chain.I was told the motor runs sweet but for peace of mind I will do the timing chain.Does anyone have a spare ignition switch, this has been butchered.

nice buy . hope not tooooo much rust being a UK import .

timing chain gear is pretty expensive , just rebuilding/hotting up a m88 engine at the moment .

nice buy . and good choice of cars :)

Thanks so much you guys for the support on my swap.I must admit I had a lot of trouble letting my m535i go because it was such a fun car but in time I know it will be worth it in the end. Thanks so much to SSBMW for his help he has already saved me $.

The UK / NZ M635csi's had the M88/3 power plant. There was never a 635csi with m options. It was either a M635csi (commonly called the M6, even though the US were the only market that officially used that moniker ) or a 635csi. Even though the visual differences were subtly - two vastly different vehicles.
