4.10 Diff Wanted for E30

Need to replace mine, but ONLY looking for PRICES atm.

Prefer 4.10. Direct replacement. LSD would be good too...

Remember, only looking at prices atm (so i know what I need to save up) so PM me your offer. I will be ringing/seeing wreckers for prices, so dont say "go see blah blah" cos I will be, I just wanna see if any private sellers have a spare or are wrecking a E30.

Would also be great if the Diff is mint - needs to last a long time :-)

(So the best price for the best Diff is pretty much gonna be the winner)

4.10 is the race-series spec diff, so you might want to consider a change to something different/cheaper maybe? I sold a 3.91 on trademe for $20 last year haha. When i bought my 4.10 the going rate was around $500 (or maybe i just got ripped? )

So why is my 318i got a 4.10 in it, if thats for the Race series? I am looking at the metal tag bolted to it, has 4.10 stamped in it... is that odd, or someone replaced it before I owned?

Is it possible to recon a diff? If my diff is worth so much, would it be worth it? Just curious... (teaches me for loving skids)

Yes it is possible to repair... uneconomic though when you can buy a good second hand one for a 5th of the price of repairing it

Because the race-series is based on stock 318i's and 320i's, so they use the diff that most(some?) of them came with. I was unfortunate to buy a PFL 320i so it had a 3.91

May just get me a 2ndhand 4.10 then, at that price there is no point recon'ing my diff is there. Just wont biff it out, store it away til these become near extint

Is there any way (by inspection) you can tell if a diff is no good?

Whats the telltale signs rather than bolting it up and listening for noises?

If its really stuffed you will feel it if you know what to feel for...otherwise you can't really be sure if a 2nd hand diff is any good without stripping it or fitting it and driving the car. Fitting and driving it is the only sure way...even with a reco diff.
