e30m30 turbo

Recommended Posts

hey all

this is my e30m30 turbo conversion its started life as a 318i(m10) lol, so far the motors been mounted the driveshafts be done ive made the turbo manifold and bolted the turbo on ive got so far all i got left to do now is things like IC piping, oil supply/feed and return, finish up the exhaust

the list is as follow

M30M35(out of a 88/89 735i) 9:0:1CR i think (correct me if im wrong please)

custom mounts

custom turbo manifold

heavy duty 6puk clutch

heavy duty pressure plate

240mm flywheel non dual mass

custom driveshaft(hybrid 5series/3series)

turbo is a T3/T4/gt35r hybrid its the ar70 housing

the radiator is and early type e36 radiator(without side tank)

i was wondering if anyone can help me out on and aftermarket ecu choice

ps the car is not in a great state atm its dirty and needs a wash lol

will add more photos soon

EDIT: Photos removed, please resize to around 1024x786, use something like tinypic.com to host and resize.

iLike. What sort of power are you aiming for?

As for ECU, Link would be the way to go or if you like something more DIY and cheaper then you could look at Megasquirt.

So much win. Looking freakn awesome.

One day my E30 will be powered by a m30, maybe even with a hairdrier hanging off the side.

Keep up the good work.

done

thanks dude

PS looks great ! hopefully aligning the gearbox and clutch is too much of a major in the tunnel like that.

due to tollerances I dropped my subframe and engine out as well from the bottom and aligned it on a pallete.

Have a chat to whoever you are going to get to tune and see what they think. If they are confident that they can do a good job with the standard ecu then go for it.

i used the front half of a 535 i had to put the center hanger bearing from the e30s shaft onto the 535's one so that it could mate with the rear of the e30s shaft, i got it shortened at beaty drive shafts in auckland for $250, i will take a few photo's of the drive shaft bolted in place

what are you using to stop and turn this beast?

im going to do a 5stud conversion to it and most prob do the e46 brake upgrade, and im planning on putting the e36 rack in and get custom lines made up to run power steering

Great looking project! If you havn't already, have a chat to Marty (BM Weapon on the forums) as he has built a couple m30 turbos now if you have some questions as he'd most probably know the answer :)

Ben - I just had my driveshaft lengthened at Driveshaft Specialists in East Tamaki. Great guy and he knows his stuff.

The quote he gave me was $100 less than Beaty Driveshafts. Hope this helps.
