[email protected] 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 I suppose it's not a big deal but I felt like mentioning it anyhow. If you come across cars listed, usual UK imports which have the odometer in miles, the sellers always seem to put in how many miles the car has done in the KM bar, for example a car thats done as described, 114,000KM but then at the bottom they have in bold, "mileage is in miles" So the cars actually done nearly 183,000 kilometers! What I dont get is why don't they change the miles to KM so they have a true reading in the mileage bar, and then explain that is actually displayed in miles in the car. It just seems like a way to confuse a lot of potential buyers, as they see the km reading and think its done less travel than its actually done. (lets face it lots of people don't read the description properly so would probably miss the miles explanation) No big deal I suppose but its enough to be irritating. maxlev 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2010 Another thing that gets on my wick, is the cars listed as having manual gearbox when they have an automated manual gearbox (SMG / tiptronic) If it aint got a clutch pedal it's not manual.
bravo 35 Report post Posted August 8, 2010 ^^^ Agreed with tectronic, but SMG could technically be considered a manual.
3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted August 8, 2010 Stongly agree with both of the above! I cannot believe trade me hasnt incorporated a miles drop down bar. Another one to add to the mix is search a BMW, get a Mini. Get so peeved with that.
necsis 27 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 also when people list the KMs on the "fully build engine" not he KMs on chassis. Grrr
Apex 693 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Yea that annoys me, as if fixing the engine you blew up makes your car brand new! What annoys me, or makes me laugh is the people who say “im the first NZ owner†as if they brought it new, or the dealers selling them as NEW in the owners section and even promoting that you could be the lucky first owner of this fresh import as if that’s a selling point? Im shopping for a new car for the missus at the moment, growing increasingly frustrated having to sift through Japanese imports, there is so much of the crap on the market to sift through, I wish there was a NZ new option tab. [email protected] 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, Trade Me needs a proper miles tab, I am somewhat surprised they haven't bothered. Also a cylinder number search would be useful!!
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 People selling worthless stuff for stupid amounts of money and/or overpriced stuff for people trying to screw over the Nana's - aimed specifically at car parts.
deeveus 81 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) They need a selector pull down menu for ks or miles IMO. Another thing that pisses me off is say a car has done 250,000km and the engine or gearbox was replaced 50,000km ago for example and they put this in the mileage section as a pose to the cars real distance travelled. Why do people think that their mileage travelled on the car is what the engine or wiper blades have travelled? IMO there's no difference between a new engine and a cigarette lighter replaced the car has still done 250,000km Edited August 9, 2010 by Clinton
