Lucan 196 Report post Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) I know of a couple people wanting to do this so to save me repeating myself here's how I'm doing it/done it. Will carry on updating as I go.... The Wheels Breaking em down and stripping the clear coat Need 10mm 12 point socket Socket Extension Wheels Misc Cleaning Products Paint Stripper Fixing Curb Marks For scratches less than 2mm deep I've sanded out the marks with 220grit The bigger gashes shown in the first pictures will have a bit of welding done to fill them up. Polishing Need: Wet Sand 400 800 1000 Autosol Mothers Power Polishing Ball Sanded to a satin type finish After polishing Painting The Centers I had the centers acid dipped. Left center had been dipped. Since the centers were dipped I figured I'd need some anti corrosive; Etch Primer and center primered Paint colour: Reassembly Haven't got to this yet.... That's all for now Edited November 14, 2010 by Blackie

BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted November 27, 2010 Nice one! This has given me some motivation to refurb mine. Just wish I could find some 9" style 5 rear outter barrels first
BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Blackie -Just wondering how many torques you used to re-tighten the bolts on holding the inner halves. I've seen figures of 34 - 38nm if re-using the old bolts with loctite blue.
Lucan 196 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 I tightened all to around 20nm, left them a while, then up to 28. I really didn't want to snap bolts, and read this was what someone else had done successfully. Worked for me too so all is good. Need to find pictures to finish this thread

BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted May 1, 2011 Blackie, did u end up clear coating the outer lips? If so how are they holding up? Have seen reports of the clear coats cracking upon re-assembly or soon after fitting to vehicles.
Lucan 196 Report post Posted May 1, 2011 Nope didn't use clear after polishing...If you don't like cleaning your wheels every 2nd week I would consider some kind of protective coat though.
