318Touring 40 Report post Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Was driving to work today, saw this, reversed back, parked my car and took a couple of pics. Never thought this kind of thing can happen in NZ let alone in Kelburn!! Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I only had my BB on hand and it was still dark at 6.30 this morning. 318Touring 40 Report post Posted April 28, 2011 At least they left the car on jacks and not the ground! Actually the left side of the car kind of half supported by the jack, it ripped into the side skirt and the front left of the car was actually on the ground. The pic isn't that clear unfortunately. 318Touring 40 Report post Posted April 28, 2011 Porirua has a wicked weekend market with cheap counterfeit apparel, Vegetables and tasty Chinese and Polynesian food also? Yup for the vegies, maybe for the food if you like oily and greasy. Lower Hutt's Saturday morning market is better though.
westy 614 Report post Posted April 28, 2011 Seen to remember an Aston having it's wheels pinched in central Auckland a while back. They left it sitting on concrete blocks ha.
E30 325i Rag-Top 2959 Report post Posted April 28, 2011 Don't Honda owners realise you can get locking wheel nuts?? Not fool proof, but enough of a PITA to deter most that would try sh*t like this. Found my mates XR2i sitting on blocks like that outside his girlfriend's house back in England one morning and LOLd then gave him a slap for not fitting the locking wheel nuts which were sitting in the boot of the car! Apex 693 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 Problem is any decent thief can get lock nuts off rather quickly.. or they will just use the key in your glove box… I removed mine, was always miss placing the key and the nuts themselves are not very durable if you are taking the wheels on and off a lot. Wom 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 yea that's a bit of an issue either leave the locknut socket in the boot in case you get a flat or keep it at home and hope like heck you don't need to change your tyre lol back to that honda ... surely the alarm would've gone off? but I guess no-one pays attention to car alarms these days
kingkarl 136 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 My car was broken into 3 times in Kelburn last year. 1st time I lost $600 worth of stereo gear, and a $10 ratchet set. 2nd time they smashed the back triangular window. They stole all the belongings in my car - 1 can of V. Quote from smith and smith of $280 to fix the window. Pick a part enabled me to fix it for $20. 3rd time some little (porirua) shits put their hand through the empty space where a window used to be thanks to the previous scum. They went through the car and found nothing, got startled by someone walking past and one of them left their shirt behind. If it wasn't riddled with BO and could've accommodated the frame of someone above 4'9" I would have kept it.
