KwS 2425 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) Gave my car a quick clean today, turned out bloody good. Only a little fading on top of the rear wing, other than that the paint is great. From To <3 Hellrot. Edited July 22, 2011 by KwS

_Matt_ 42 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 amazing what a cut and polish can do after oxidization like that.
KwS 2425 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 Amazingly the paint isnt faded, in the previous pictures it was just THAT dirty it made the paint look really dull. Suppose thats what you get for a mixture of quake silt and road works dirt. The wheels had so much brake dust caked on them they looked gunmetal. Itll get a decent wax/polish/clay when i move to wellington and have a garage to do it in. Also found tire shine is damn good at blackening the plastic trim too. Going to autosol the exhaust tip when i can be bothered.
Mark 178 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 ^Tyre shine will eventually streak and fade and will look rubbish. You need some proper trim cleaner to keep it looking black. Mother have a good product called "Naturally Black" which works really well. Car looks really good BTW. I'm a big fan of CSL reps.
str8_6 275 Report post Posted May 15, 2011 My Hellrot e36 coupe looks awful when it's dirty - as though the paint is dull and faded pink however after a wash it comes up looking showroom new.
KwS 2425 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Couple of things. Is there meant to be a stop light in my rear spoiler? Ive got a crappy aftermarket histop light stuck in my rear window. The wing has a black strip in it, with "BMW Motorsport" printed on it where i would assume the light should be. Some pics ive seen seem to show a red led strip. Also, should my rear fogs work on both sides? Ive got all the bulbs in place (dual filament on both sides), and all my other lights work. Only my drivers side rear fog works. sascha 17 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Not sure about the stop light- I've never had an e36. But re- the fog lights, are you sure that the bulbs both work? Maybe try swapping the bulbs from either side.. And if both bulbs work, have you checked that there is voltage coming through?
byza213 1 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 looking good! is it missing the motorsport lip? that would be a nice touch to it

antil33t 90 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 I think E36's only have one rear foglight.. mates E36 is like that too.
hotwire 352 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 I think E36's only have one rear foglight.. mates E36 is like that too. Quite likely - will be on offside (divers side) if only one. Also fog light will be single filament bulb - in it's own position. I can't off hand remember which lamp position is fog.
JFry 1 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Drivers side only could be a jap thing? Mine is the same
KwS 2425 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 okay sweet, i can live with that. Anyone got any ideas on the stop light in the wing?
zl2cq 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2011 The rear fog light thing is a European requirement isn't ? My NZ new E36 Compact has one only - right hand side,
str8_6 275 Report post Posted May 21, 2011 My NZ New E36 has rear fogs on both sides... they are quite handy if someone is tailgating
Greg111 13 Report post Posted May 21, 2011 The spoiler should have a stop light in it, if it was an after thought spoiler then it's probably not wired up hence the high stop in the window. If it's not a genuine spoiler then it's more than likely there for looks.
