E36ShoppingTrolley 7 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Just got downloaded the report as i brought the book. Thought it would be a great resource for members or prospective buyers, but does seem to bag the e30 a fair bit. master garion 1 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 If you don't know anything about cars and rely on the Dog & Lemon guide for advice, you will end up buying a Toyota or Honda. They bag pretty much all the euros on the reliability aspect, which is fair tbh for the most part.
huff3r 347 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 Haha i love how E30s are suddenly very expensive to maintain, and completely unreliable. I used my E30 to deliver pizzas without a single issue. Still running strong everyday, and is impossibly easy to fix. Also the note on local mechanics not knowing these cars.... well they arent exactly rare, so I'd be surprised if it were the first any mechanic has seen.. Top Secret 2 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 Anyone keen to hold a sacrificial burning of the Dog and Lemon guide? I hate it when people quote it as being some deity of automotive all-knowingness. f**k off already.

westy 614 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 I dont know, the only silly thing here is that he's doing a reliability essay on a 20 year old car. If Toyota's are more reliable, then Toyota's are more reliable.

Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Of the author: "...bored and experimenting with a number of careers, including advertising, songwriting, jewellery, computers, publishing and public relation..." ... and drives a Morris Minor... lolLets face it, if you want utter reliability, drive a Toyota. I had one for seven years, never missed a beat (well, there was that time it was a foot shorter thanks to being humped by a Hilux, but that wasn't really it's fault). I hope my Beemer is that reliable when I get it on the road... European stuff though... Italian, French, English, problems... friend of mine had a Mondeo, and he bagged me for having an 'expensive to maintain' car while spending three times as much on his... I dunno! lol Edited July 9, 2011 by Sick Puppy
