Lucan 196 Report post Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Needed another daily driver so I picked up this bad-boy for $1500. It's pretty rubbish but I like having something to do. Brilliantrot, 5 speed, coupe. Those were the only good points lol. Exterior - bonnet and grills have been hit or hit something, paint needs work, random dings here and there. Interior - seats ripped and hidden with awesome seat covers. Repco gear knob. VW radio jammed in hole and not connected, cracked dash - with dash mat but no floor mats... Engine - ticks a bit but runs fine, no smoke or water/oil use. Trans - seems OK. Fingers crossed. Clutch - questionable, sometimes engages off the floor after holding in the pedal, most other times at pedals full height. Have tried bleeding, have a brand new slave cyl so will try swapping that next. Brakes - drums in the rear... Pictures from previous owner, you may have seen this on Trademe. Nothing too major done so far, but: Could smell petrol, found #4 injector completely missing an O-ring and gas was pissing out of the fuel rail! New Wipers. Black kidneys. Swapped on the RS'. Sorted out the major steering wobble over 80kph. (dodge 5mm spacers on front wheels combined with wheels that weren't hubcentric) E34 Leather handbrake handle. Alcantara gear and handbrake boots. //M gear knob Sportsline Steering wheel from sedan. Lowered yesterday. Dobi rears, Vmaxx fronts. Pic from test fitting wheels. Will get some proper pictures of post-lowering tomorrow. Also; Sump guard tomorrow. Getting new bonnet, front lip, plate filler and stock stereo from Ray in the next couple days. Needs a damn good guard rolling. Needs tints as my right arms got a nice tan over the last week. And I'm going to have a go at respraying the Hartge side skirts I got from from Silverfox, colour matching the bumpers and pretty much respraying the entire car lol Fun times ahead. Lucan 196 Report post Posted December 14, 2011 /\ /\ yea bro definitely! Hoping to get some seats from Ray (wink wink) in the near future but we'll see how that goes. I got my sump guard from Ethrty-Andy, had a look today and no mounting holes like the Sedan (SA built so must've been a factory thing there) would've thought an NZ New E30 would have em...Does anyone know if it's OK to drill and tap where the holes should be? Only photo I got today, AKL weather
Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted December 14, 2011 Nice! Best E30 colour behind Misano (I like Red E30's)
Top Secret 2 Report post Posted December 14, 2011 Nice. Amazing what a set of BBS RS's and a tidy up can do to the appearance of a car. Keep it up. Only the SA E30s had a sump guard as standard IIRC. You'll have to drill in some holes. Very nice. E30 4 cyl's make the best dailys That they do. I barely drive around my other E30 these days.
