charles28 130 Report post Posted December 15, 2011 I'm looking at this lowish priced E39 528i and I see that it has leather seats, however they don't look the same as the ones in many of the other E39's for sale with leather seats, are these perhaps a lower grade version? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=429290041

hotwire 352 Report post Posted December 15, 2011 ^^^^ Doubt many E39's would have had seats recovered. Yes there are a few different styles. Mine are similar but with with more seams in the middle & different seat back cards & inc map pockets. The ones in that car do look like a basic version
nath 132 Report post Posted December 15, 2011 Well that's what the sales guys at JC told me many years ago when I worked there is all. It may have been a general bmw comment, proof in all those 316i's with soft, 'loose' leather

BMWTouring 20 Report post Posted December 16, 2011 Those have been recovered definitely.... the velour door cards give it away and also the uphostrey on BMW seats isnt on the back all the way to the bottom, they have a plastic panel.

charles28 130 Report post Posted December 17, 2011 Hehe i'm such an idiot, they are in actual fact, very well made car seat covers, that fit so well you'd think they were factory looking seats. Underneath is the normal cloth seats, which are in brand new condition, I suspect these covers have been in place since the car was sold new in Japan. BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted December 24, 2011 There are several grades of leather. The link to the online ETK to check the options list of your BMW has details about the different grades. Most NZ new e39's came with the lowest grade leather that i've seen.
