Cheers Listing seems to have expired... Was it the white, manual one? I thought it looked pretty nice from the pics. I'm after a touring but something with a bigger motor than the 1.8l You going for it?
waywrd 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 Yeah mate it was the white manual one. It looked really nice but I dont know if the missus wants a manual. Looking to have kids one day and think auto woud be better....
Guest Simon* Report post Posted February 15, 2012 Looking to have kids one day and think auto woud be better.... I've got 2 kids and they've never managed to get tangled around the gearstick It did look like quite a nice car. The manual tourings are definitely commanding a bit of a premium over sedans, etc. The price was approaching E46 touring prices. I guess you should see what the Missus would prefer
nath 132 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 I've got 2 kids and they've never managed to get tangled around the gearstick Good call. The mothers these days who get a Ford Territory as soon as they have a baby because they absolutely need it.... And they keep them a flaming mess. Most of us grew up with mums driving manual sedans with no electric windows or air con and on top of that they werent a mess. Culture of sloth? Apologies for digression. Allanw 1071 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 There is more room in the back of a five - Getting kids into car seats can be a bit tricky if the back seat is tight. I was looking at E46 3's, but went for an E39 in the end. Not a touring, but it's manual. Had to pick one or the other really . Manual 530i/540i touring would be my ultimate choice

camera doctor 25 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Haven't things changed over the Years ??.... my mum managed 2 kids with a 2 door Morris Minor and my wife managed my two daughters with an RX2 and a Honda Civic I can remember the four of us kids shoe-horned in the back of a Morris 1100 !! No car seats or even belts back then ! No aircon, no elecric windows, don't think it even had a radio Edited February 15, 2012 by camera doctor
waywrd 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 Morris 1100....you didnt need seat bealts, you were the master of the road back then..... Yeah manual is not the issue, she has owned two M3's and a 5 series in the UK, actually she has never owned an auto, just thought it would be a little less distracting. Cheers guys for the thoughts and reminising of when we were all young....
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 have 3 kids 5 ,8 & 10yo all fit with no problems in the back of the e36 coupe or touring. and they have a little more space when in the back of the e28 or e34
Guest Simon* Report post Posted February 16, 2012 Oooh love that "Hydrolastic" suspension in the Morrie Forgive us if we're teaching you to suck eggs Justin, but when I saw the handle "WaYwRd" it sounded like the kind of nickname a 12 y/o girl would give herself on Bebo with the alternating caps and small letters - so I didn't know what we were in for I managed fine with 2 boys in a 5 series sedan. Boot was big enough for mountain buggies and all that. The truth is you can always use more room, but you have to make a call somewhere. A wagon is probably preferable. Considering you haven't even had the kids yet, don't shoehorn the wife into somthing she'll resent mate!
waywrd 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 Yeah no worries mate, The handle came from the nickname me and my car got years again. Driftit knows the one and I still own it..... Yeah space is not really an issue, we have a 1984 GMC Vandura van as well. Cool thanks for the thougts.
