Hi long time lurker, new first time BMW owner

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

As the title would suggest I have been a member since 2007 however have never actively posted as I've never owned a BMW. I brought my first BMW 6 months ago as I have always been a fan of E30s.

I beleive the car is NZ new, and it is in reasonably good condition considering it's 25 years. It's a 320i and in manual. There is a rip in the drive's seat, common I beleive, the dash is cracked and the paint is rough otherwise I'm happy with it.

Plans are to keep it original and running. Maybe one day I will bother with mods but it's such a good car as it is.

Let me know what you guys think. I'd be interested in getting involved in some local action around the canterbury area too.

Cheers Nick

nice, if its still all original, keep it that way! Good original E30s are becoming really hard to find these days

It's a 1300XL but basically Mexio spec. !600 overbore, side draught webbers, cam, bottom end etc... and a 5 speed toyota T50. This is my 1st car...so rather attched now... haha. This is what I drive the E30 instead of.

That Escort is sweet. Amazing how something so utterly basic can be so much fun huh?

Hi, Thanks for the advice, feel like I'm always buying something for one of them nearly all of the time. The escort Is a great wee car to have lying about and yes very fun to drive considering how little power it has.

Future plans will be front coilovers, I'd like to add upright strut turrets in the rear, and just a basic tidy up of the exterior paint and interior eventually.

No major plans for the E30 at this stage, it has some rust which will require repair soon, and maybe some basket weaves in the future.

I noticed this morning in the rain a water leak coming out on my bonnet release latch, any Ideas?

Love both of these cars!

The E30 would go nice with some basketweaves and maybe a little low to fill out the arches. E30's have always looked like the ride height of a 4x4 when stock :D

Cheers! Hopefully I might have the loan of a buddy's 15inch baskets sometime soon, but would be cool to find a set of my own...and yes I agree it's pretty high but I am currently having cert issues with the escort so afraid any money spent on the E30 will have to wait...

I think I've found the culprit of the leak in my interior. There's a 20c sized rust spot at the bottom of the A Pillar, is this a common rust area? and would anyone know of other common rust spots on these cars? I know the sunroofs aren't great...

Cheers
