Seems outrageously expensive. Mine was less than $6K for the same year and is in better condition IMO, though it has done approx twice as many kms and I've spent a couple of grand on it. Still couldn't justify $17.5K for a 17 year old car.

Its too old to bother with, as Jeffbebe said, 17 years old..

If I was to buy an E39 now it would have to be a 2001 or newer car I think and you can get some nice 2001 + models cheaper then that with Motorsport Kit etc.

we sold a 99 540i NZ New sport, 30,000kms for 20k. much nicer car than this!

17k gets you a nicely optioned 2001+ 530/40i with low kms

I guess it's worth it to a collector but looking at the seats etc this does not look like a car that has "time capsule" status.

And you still have the cooling system rebuild etc to look forward to...
