If its a Jap Import one they often have that annoying Jatco automatic.

The Engine is no power house and tends to chew up a bit of gas to get moving, I'd suggest going for the 525i model, it probably uses less fuel despite being bigger.

avoid a 520i at all costs if its an automatic. My Touring was a 520i originally. i have never driven a slower BMW yet was one of the thirstiest.

if its a manual, maybe, but you'd have to nanna drive it to get the economy of a 2.5L which is more suited to the bodysize.

i understand this i used to own a 520i , i may consider doing a swap if the engine decides to die

its not a Japanese import , was imported from germany?

I dont know why you would want to keep a 520i for years but nothing wrong with higher km cars as long they check out. In my experience with high k E34's is the engines are usually good but suspension components have always needed attention.

wheels alone are worth $1000.

these individual cars are nicely spec'd

they normally have the better ZF 5 speed auto trans.

they run a simpiler wiring loom .

dash cluster pixels always fail.

they run the later seimens electrics on the engine so good donar car for a e36 328i engine

looks good , but like said above check the suspension stuff .

shocks , ball joints ,bushes etc.

the 520i have a lighter rear diff set subframe setup.

The rears look to be same size as the front wheels, so no staggered m parallels here, might be knock offs too!
