Allanw 1071 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 yea seams to be nz spec when they dont have the tv setup Most NZ cars seemed to have it, which is a bit weird when hardly any of the other options got ticked. I guess most sedans of the era had it, so they had to spcify it where they could, otherwise their new $100K car looked liked a cheapskate

I guess most sedans of the era had it, so they had to spcify it where they could, otherwise their new $100K car looked liked a cheapskate I think it's because most o/s cars were higher spec'd and came with nav and TV modules which are all stashed behind the backseat rendering a fold down seat impossible. Sometimes cheap is practical... Unless you want to know where you're going or watch TV. Edited March 13, 2014 by jeffbebe

Sometimes cheap is practical... Unless you want to know where you're going or watch TV. I think it's only the Jap ones that have the Nav etc on the parcel tray area. The Euro spec stuff was in the cubby's on the side of the boot. I think. I don't have Nav. Maybe NZ is one of the few places where you buy a 100K car, then nip down to ITM to get some 100x100 posts, and 12 bags of concrete to build a shaded area to use while tending your crop?
nath 134 Report post Posted March 13, 2014 Neat car and nice colour! Fold down seats would reflect the 'kiwi DIY' attitude for the market I think. In USA/ EUR I reckon there's more of a culture of 'have it delivered' or 'get a man in to do it' where we aren't seen as lowly by doing it ourselves. Hence we find it properly handy to have a load- lugging sedan on occasion.
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 was even a option availible in a e34 sedan , but i have never seen one. late e36 sedans 316i 97 etc also came with fold down rear seats , nic eoptions ,since all the coupes have it i often load , driveshafts , bumpers , exhausts into my e36 328i coupe
