Steering wheel restoration in NZ?

Hey People,

Does anyone know where I can take my E60 steering wheel to get restored? Has slight wear on it I want to get fixed.

Prefer somewhere in Auckland that can do a close to OEM quality job.

Otherwise I will just buy another frame from the US for around $300.

I was thinking of doing this also.

I checked out ebay Germany for resto on my M3 wheel best one I could find is in the link I have not tried to contact them, 2 options either recover your original or exchange from what I could work out plus good feed back.

Also options of stitching colour and leather types.

Looking at the web site you listed it is very hard to see the quality of the workmanship as there are no detail photos of the steering wheels, looks like a true specialist job to get factory finish and unless you can find someone in NZ who is doing them regularly probably cost a small fortune.

I've no connection to them.

Stitches on the Clevedon-Maraetai road do superb interior work. Not sure if they do steering wheels, but give Kelly a call. 09 292 8048 / 021 821 550. When I get around to it, he's going to rebuild a couple of Mercedes seats for me, retaining the original look but with more shape to them.

There was a phoenix e46 M3 that had (what mus be ?) one of these wheels with a yellow centre stripe I looked at. If it was, it was decent quality. You could kind of tell it was aftermartket, but it was nice.

Any one in NZ do this?

The wheel? It was just a SMG m3 wheel (2002). On that site the strips have like a ridge. This had exactly that.

Seen some of there jobs on custom bike seats. I'd say they would be more than up for the job.

Got quoted nearly a thousand from a local stitch shop.

Looks like I will go with the cobywheels guys. I emailed them and they are happy with me sending them an Ebay wheel to swap out. So I will just buy a sh*t one for $100USD and have it covered.

Now to see what wheels fit the E34 that I can do this to.

Retro Vehicle Enhancements (rve) can re-cover steering wheels, ive never used them but they do full leather interiors and are supposed to be pretty good.

This, Had my 330 done by them and a friend with his e30 m3 SR2 restoration. Theyre better than OEM due to the grade of leather they use. They also sell nappa. Unfortunately theyre expensive but the best.
