allan 295 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Dave, No it has happened many times. They go through the court system are fined etc and some pay $5 a week if they can afford it. In one case $28,000 odd was owed in traffic offenses and went unpaided. The police finally track him down and was taken to court and convicted it was either a time in jail or community service of so many hours I believe he took the community service of about 300 hrs. A good result for him considering all the trouble he had coursed.
FIAT 131R 223 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 well middle income do yes, rich hide theirs in business losses and just manoeuvring of money between accounts to show as a loss ,people like Bob Jones don't pay tax or pay no more than a simple business owner does, the whole system is completely biased to the rich money makes money, once you get over a certain level And you know this for a fact ???. On the the other hand are you mouthing off about something you know nothing about and doing a little tall poppy bashing. Be careful, you may get off your arse one day and become successful and have people talk about you in this way.

Your post comes across as needlessly aggressive and inflammatory. 2). Any one smart enough to hide there real income isn't dumb enough to spout about it online. 3). The elite wealthy who remain so are either very f**king intelligent or they pay intelligent people to manage their wealth for them.
kwhelan 241 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Not bashing anyone ,Id be doing exactly the same if I was in the same bracket but it is definitely fact. Back in the Muldoon era when tax was 60% My fathers single owner operator business(optometrist), paid more in tax that year than Sir Bob Jones did as did many in same situation. Another quick example ,my son doesn't get a student allowance for EIT because we earn just over $60k between us yet all 3 sons of one of our biggest local building Developers went through University on nearly complete funding because of holes in the system. Mouthing off, dude every one knows stories like these. where do you live?
HSB 282 Report post Posted March 27, 2015 How about stupidity related fines -------saw a guy driving on the motorway eating a bowl of rice balanced on the steering wheel (steering with his elbows) and talking on his mobile. P.S. it was a manual 10 tonne truck. Actually?

Bob was clearly smart enough to have excellent accountants, if he was paying less tax whilst building a property empire, compared with a specialist retailer/health professional. as any good accountant will tell you, it's about tax minimisation, not avoidance. You talk about "hiding", when sharp businessmen and women are in fact utilising opportunities available *within the law*.
