I am absolutely no expert on this but could it be reverse threaded? ( clockwise for loosening)

Still in car? Something about locking it at the flywheel from memory...

Heat, powerbar and 6ft steel pipe

And if it still doesn't work... eat a LOT of pies.

Went with a 20 minute mock up bracket that bolts to the crank. Using 5mm stainless steal, and BOOM, 30 seconds to get it out (roll on the jokes)

Thanks for all the help

thats a good idea, ive always just put a bar onthe crank end or bar in the flywheel and used a big ass pole to swing off to ge tthe bolt out.

your way seems much less feral

Haha we tried that, started chipping a way at the flywheel, so decided not the best of ideas. But we still used a 6ft pipe

If the engine is still in the car, I use a socket/strong arm/pipe so the arm is set about 100mm away from a solid point in rotation direction (chassis rail etc) & flick the starter. Works a treat, except on a Honda with reverse engine rotation...
