Rubix 434 Report post Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) My new toy. Will be a project/maintenance thread as there's really not much else to do to this car.Put the Estoril coupe up for sale approx. 5 mins after hearing that a friend was selling this - 3 days later and it was in my driveway.1996 NZ new 328i Manual coupe turned M3.A good friend built this car from a bare shell, the only remaining part that is a 328i aside from the chassis is the subframe. Everything else is M3-equivalent or better.Drivetrain: S50B30, Vanos has been rebuiit. Chipped, Tuned. M3 ZF 5sp gearboxQuaife helical LSD. Spend this past Sunday cleaning it and went out for the day with 2x E46 M3's and an E92 M3, what an incredible car, and a ridiculous difference between this and the Estoril 328I. There's no fair comparison between the S50 and M52 engines, this completely blows the other car out of the water in terms of power and acceleration, and all the suspension components make this car handle insanely well.I'm extremely happy, and content with a car for the first time. Few photos below, more will be coming soon. Edited February 8, 2016 by Rubix

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 Awesome, love the wheels. Bet it drives well! Only things I would do if it were mine, - Delete window tints - Chrome grille - Orange front indicators - OEM radiator over Fenix one. - Standard headlights - Add standard foglights
Rubix 434 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 Only things I would do if it were mine, - Delete window tints I can understand the rest as they're personal taste but THIS? Have you driven in NZ before? Being baked alive isn't fun Exact reason I had tints done on the estoril coupe - Driving along the motorway and being blind in one eye through my sunglasses whilst having one side of my face roasted isn't ideal. It does drive extremely well though
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 True that! haha, I've always liked transparent cabins all the way around, but yeah I forget about the physical benefits.

Rubix 434 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Always loved black E36s, they look so tough and your example is no different. Beautiful car, I can see why you wanted it so much. Thanks Toby. The majority of panels have had recent resprays so the paint is in excellent condition, it's such a tidy car and very tough looking as you've said. I love it. haha.. Well he was just made redundant Edited October 27, 2015 by Rubix

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 Well he was just made redundant About 3 months ago I was offered a free one I designed for 1JZ / 2JZ Soarers and the boss said I could have the sample one in my car, but I was reluctant and declined hahahaha They're fine at the end of the day, but the odd ones do like to have header plate to tube failures from what I've seen. The factory most of the full alloys are made in also do Redline's range of radiators too, and some other performance shops.

Rubix 434 Report post Posted December 10, 2015 Love this car to bits.Went for a nice driver out to Huia point lookout with the rest of the ECC crew on sunday afternoon- car performed brilliantly well, definitely getting rid of these landsail tyres ASAP though as they really were making me sail across the land. Can't wait to get a daily driver so she can be a weekend/garage queen.Spark plug change this weekend - May need to find someone to help me helicoil 3 valve cover threads as they've stripped themselves, no oil leaks on 2 of them but one leaking a small bit of oil into cylinder #3 causing a slight miss - hopefully can resolve fairly easily. (Dave/M3AN I hear you're the man for this? )Thanks to Jayden (ibboostn) for building such a wonderful car - After owning her for a couple of months now I can certainly say it's the most fun car I've owned, and I'm not wanting more for once.

Rubix 434 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) ^ I forgot what I was told on Sunday, are they E46 rotors Dion? Sure are, e46 m3 rotors, e46 330i front calipers, M3 pads. Was previously running pads and rotors from e46 330i. Still running e46 328i rear rotors/caliper/pads to keep the brake bias right. _ethrty-Andy_ 2136 Report post Posted May 11, 2016 Still running e46 328i rear rotors/caliper/pads to keep the brake bias right. I have my front setup under control, but whats the advantage of this in the rear? and how are the rotors different other than larger diameter.... do they have a bigger offset too? just wondering how it would work on a compact (which run the same callipers as other E36, but i think the disks are specific
