Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 So I cranked my S50B32 for ~10 seconds and it doesn't have oil pressure, it also isn't pumping any oil through the lines which is probably why I don't see pressure as the sensor goes off the same lines. This is a freshly built motor and I was cranking with no sprakplugs so was nicely free-spinning at a reasonable RPM. Are they some how susceptible to air blocks if the lines have been primed? Before it was rebuilt it had a lot of bearing metal go through the block but the block was cleaned out by a reputable engine shop. Is it only the oil pump that could cause 0 oil pressure? hybrid 1043 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Any coming out of the cooler lines ? Is the oil filter filling up ?
Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 No. Its like its doing jack sh*t.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 the bolt on the pump is tight right? im sure you have been over the simple sh*t though.....
Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 the bolt is welded to the shaft and sprocket. Guess ill drop the sump this weekend and remove the pump and get it checked.
CamB 48 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) My 2002 had nil oil pressure once (mechanical gauge). It was on the start line of my 4th and last ever Targa stage. The oil pump nut had chosen that moment to come undone. Expensive... So you've done the right thing by welding and odd there is no pressure at all. (Edit - have re-read and realised that I didn't really make a point. My point is that I saw a genuine nil pressure and it was really bad. Investigate carefully!!) polley 916 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 10 seconds? A completely drained and dry engine might take longer than that
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 10 seconds? A completely drained and dry engine might take longer than that I agree. I'd also try priming the oil filter remote as well before removing the sump
sweetm3 180 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) Did you prime the oil pump ? As above mine took what felt like an age to show pressure, do you have an aftermarket oil gauge Edited November 20, 2015 by sweetm3
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 I have a feeling ill be doing the same thing ... as gar as priming soon. did you prime your cooler lines too ? Also just a thought, the gaskets and pickups are all sorted ? some times people have moved the pickup to pump gasket by mistake on reassembly. With mine last time I pulsed the start with no ignition connected for 2-3 mins .. being sure to give the starter a break to stop any over heating. I didnt have a gauge at the time so was being extra cautious.
sweetm3 180 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 I only primed the pump using Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted November 22, 2015 So filled the cooler, lines, where the lines bolt on and poured oil down the filter area. Took 20 seconds before any pressure, then climbed over the next 20 seconds to 30psi. Happy
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted November 22, 2015 I only primed the pump using Vaseline Petroleum Jelly That is the correct way every time you build an engine and also lubricate the oil pressure relief valve properly if there is going to be a time delay before running up the engine
