Harper 548 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 My M3 shows an inconsistent odometer twice on carjam before my ownership. Plate is "96oohp" if anyone wants to have a look. I don't believe it is anything too sinister and happened during the previous owners time with the car, who I'm still somewhat in touch with. I don't believe the odometer has been tampered with, car is in about the right condition for its mileage and the cluster is clear. Worst case I could always talk to the previous owner about what it's from. Is it a cause for concern? Is it possible to get it corrected?
qube 3570 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 could be bad handwriting from wof sheet/reading odo wrong or typo when entering it into the system. cross check and service papers you have with the dates showing on carjam to verify if its just human error.
Matth5 471 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 These WOF inspections are very close together as if the first one failed, but it's not logged as a failed inspection. I'd say the WOF guys here were just not recording it accurately. The numbers look reasonable otherwise. Those probably were failed WOF inspections (why else would it have been rechecked so soon?). Harper 548 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 @Matth5 Yep, I noticed how close they were as well, just wasn't sure what to make of it. I think you're probably right. Not sure how to get those amended though.

It's not as if the distance has suddenly jumped back 80,000kms and then stayed there. Looks very much to me like it's a mis-read of the odo or the form when it's been typed in, which is the most usual reason.
qube 3570 Report post Posted May 19, 2020 137,706 --> 138,107 maybe and 150,524 --> 150,727 I wouldnt bother trying to correct it. No one will make a fuss when it comes to sale time and if they do they are just timewasters.
M3AN 4016 Report post Posted May 19, 2020 ^ that. I thought it was pretty obvious actually.

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted May 19, 2020 Super annoying when operators make these mistakes entering it into the system. Genuine mistakes are quite obvious though, as opposed to dash cluster swaps or tampered meters.
