Palazzo 477 Report post Posted June 9, 2022 Looking at the exhausts on this which look like a 90s Bighorn, is this poor running or the result of deleting the blue system?
Gaz 1061 Report post Posted June 9, 2022 Prob never been cleaned. Deleting adblue would only turn it into a NZ spec vehicle
Palazzo 477 Report post Posted June 9, 2022 Just curious, never seen one with that level of soot around the exhaust.

That level of black soot is more likely to be poor running, worn turbo, clogged injectors, overdue oil changes, etc. Possibly jammed up EGR valve. My understanding is that the AdBlue system is to reduce levels of the NOx emissions, which are much smaller / finer particles than the soot, by a chemical reaction. So no AdBlue shouldn’t mean more soot, unless it’s not been done properly and now it’s not running right..
NZ00Z3 187 Report post Posted June 9, 2022 You only get soot deposits on the tailpipes of Diesels that have had the Cat's removed. Diesels with Cats = clean tailpipes.
curryinahurry 39 Report post Posted June 10, 2022 Probably had a DPF delete. The DPF takes care of all the particulates... adblue only converts the NOx gases to CO2 and are not visible.
E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted June 10, 2022 Did the E70 come with a DPF..? It might have in some markets, EU maybe hence the AdBlue which wasn’t required for NZs lax emission rules. All the more reason why people should not be allowed to muck about with emission control systems on cars. Really pisses me off, glad to see they are starting to pick up on this kind of dumbf**kery at WoF time now.
dirtydoogle 383 Report post Posted June 10, 2022 All e70 diesels have DPF AFAIK, was a market option on the last of the e53s too
