IS the BMW Vin decoder not working?

Every time I put a number into the various Vin checker websites, it comes back, vehicle not found. Has anyone else been having this problem?

I just tried it again this morning, same issue. I wonder if it is blocking me for some reason.

In general or a certain VIN? Ive found some VIN numbers don't decode even though they appear correct in parts catalogue

Does seem to be VIN specific, my '97 320i shows up as not found. Couple of other ones I have saved seemed to work fine though (a '00 540i & '07 130i)

Could be an age thing? My sample size is fairly small though.

Yep tends to be the 80's-90's stuff in my experience.

The vin decoders are pretty intermittent, sometimes they stop working for weeks and then start working again.

I have tried quite few lately but yes they were all 90's or early 2000's vehicles. My e36/46 addiction wont go away.

isn't working for me either! quite frustrating
