M3AN 4016 Report post Posted April 3 Hopefully a few of our Ōtautahi members can advise. Not sure if @Aaron still has eyes on the forum? He has a fair bit of ChCh BMW experience.
Vass 830 Report post Posted April 3 BM Workshop on Moorhouse Ave would be my best bet. Eurocare used to be the go-to but some of their best people have jumped ship over the past few years from what I've heard. Haven't used either personally but have a mate that's had some decent service with the former. That or just DIY. It's not rocket science

Did you find a good workshop for your 130i in Chch? I have a low boost code in my N54 powered 130i which I need to sort before putting car on the market, so keen to find a good reliable shop myself

Vass 830 Report post Posted August 21 No need to get so butthurt over an innocuous comment there, dad. Once you sober up you might realize it was actually a solid recommendation. From personal experience with a few N42/N46's, they're barely worth the effort of DIY upkeep, and never worth it if you're paying a professional to do it for you. Unless making financial mistakes is your favorite hobby? On top of the numerous, well documented issues plaguing the horrid 4-pot engines, the 120i's, despite being utterly gutless, also somehow like to chew though differentials like they're Weet-Bix. There's really no lesson to be learnt from being the 1,000th person to step on that rake. People generally get into BMW's for the perceived prestige of owning a luxury brand, or for the performance aspect. The 120i is not a luxury car whilst offering the performance of a 90's Corolla. Literally the worst of both worlds. You get to swallow the premium maintenance costs whilst not getting a taste of any upsides. The fatherly thing here would be to urge her to sell the damn thing before it inevitably shits the bed on her, and get something with a proper engine. An electric scooter for example. But seeing as you did nothing to prevent her from getting one in the first place, I'm guessing she's not the favorite child anyway?

May of come across as a insult but anyone who knows these cars knows it was a tongue in cheek comment. The advise about is correct though. The majority of owners can't afford preemptive maintenance these require to be reliable so they aren't visiting the workshop regularly for repairs. This tends to exacerbate the fact that being already being base model run around with low entry cost, that they aren't maintained as well as higher end models. As for the original question - BM Workshop and Eurocare are the main places ive seen recommend but it can depend on what work you require
