Xtreme

But do I just go buy a s54?

s54 is a amazing engine! but i'm sure your just like me. You will buy the s54 and then still want to put the Extreme on it and push it never harder :). if you do want a s54 Pm me I know of one that's just been rebuild and the owner no longer wants it. IMO buy the ecu and push your current engine to the limit without buying cams ect then when you are ready for the s54 you will already have the ECU!

Missed out on a e46 m3 wreck mid week. Went for more than I could justify.

Did a 1.22.350 on taupo two yesterday. Still plenty more left in it (well my driving).

Got 2 lots of driver training in the next month

Did Taupo 1 yesterday, doing 1.50.x around it. Need to play with suspension setup a bit more to try and reduce understeer. Will start with firming up the rear more and soften front a bit in regards to damper.

Will dig out my last alignment sheet also, probably due for another one. Anyone got any decent starting points for alignment?

180km on track yesterday took its toll on my exhaust.

Going to test out some cheaper track day tyres as its getting a bit expensive eating R888R's. Dont expect them to light the world on fire but at 1/3 of the cost they will be good for mid week runs

you considered going to lighter smaller 16" alloys ? , what brakes you running ??

we run 16" semi slicks on bbs 16" by8" very light , makes the car that much quicker out of the corners etc

Ive considered lighter 17" wheels but finding 8 of them for the right price is hard.

Standard 328i rotors and Hawk pads, never had an issue with that setup.

What are your thoughts on those tyres? They seem really cheap (on Trademe at least)

Pre xmas track day pics. E46 front arms have gone in and pick up points for front sway bars have been changed since then. Just need to roll guards and do another test day at Taupo to dial it in. Car may be coming up for sale in the near future if anyone is interested.

Good day out on the weekend, 7th fastest out of 37.

Also ordered a Haltech 2500 ECU today and have been looking at building a high compression M52b28 with M54 cams or stronger and new pistons in increase compression

M52b28 spare engine to build and a zf box acquired to build. Engine comes with a loom so makes it easier to install the haltech out of the car.

Also finished my 2wd dyno rebuild.

What a great dyno!

That must make testing parts/upgrades really handy as you will have actual evidence, not just internet yarns or manufacturer claims.

What's going into the build?

Not 100% sure yet. Need to open it up. Goal is a reliable engine that likes to rev without breaking the bank

Cams - Cat cams or B30 intake cam

Rods

Pistons

Bearings

Solid lifters and port work on head

Oil pump

Gaskets
