1 pointRed rear indicators are permitted if the lamp has an SAE marking on it. ECE (i.e. everywhere except the US) can only be amber. Front indicators have to be amber (or "yellow" as defined in the SAE standards). Here in NZ the LTNZ/LTSA (or whatever they call themselves now) accept either SAE or ECE approved lighting. So the short answer is yes, red indicators are ok on the rear. However, they look f**king awful & there is no law against poor taste unfortunately.

1 pointYep they are legal. By law, indicators can be orange or red. I've passed so many warrents with my red indicators and cops have seen them so many times and never gotten pulled over, however putting anything over your taillights is illegal.

1 pointOh yes, but the shorter you go, the faster it'll get there (to a point, obviously). You can't have too much acceleration The grunt of the 540i overcomes much of the gearing gaps anyway. You're probably only sitting on 1800-2000 RPM at 100kms aren't you? If you were at 2500-2800, the acceleration after traction is sorted would be epic! Ours is at about 2600 (I think) at 100kms, and it will easily overtake in 5th at that... and it's only a 525i (3rd sounds cooler though )
