Na I bought an e60 M5 in 2012. Not really sure what I'm doing with it yet, but due to the SMG, it's not really suited for the amount of stop/start traffic I now have to navigate daily for work, so she's sitting pretty in the garage. It's awesome for when I have to do the midnight runs to Tauranga, and I know it'd be impossible to find another example in as mint condition,so can't bring myself to sell it yet. Can never have too many high horsepower monsters in the garage right?

Sooo, I'm meant to be moving to Auckland at the end of this month, quit my job, packing up the house yadda yadda and was planning on taking my e30 325i with me... Until the head gasket let go yesterday Still driveable for short distances. Sigh. Anyone interested in taking this headache off my hands? Will give Eurorec a call tomorrow to see what they think it's worth. Fml. Car is in Christchurch. Cheers

Finally got around to fixng a problem with exhaust fume coming in to the cabin when doing some full-throttle driving. Here are a few reference pics, and notes if you intend on tackling this yourself. The trunk vents are about $12USD each. On all e39 sedans there are 2 trunk vents, they are one-way and are designed to let air flow out from the cabin when the fans are on. When they get old the rubber flaps loose their seal and cause an undesirable smell from the exhaust to enter. The new vents before some labour takes place : The vents are held in by 6 plastic clips, and are near on impossible to remove from inside the trunk, or from underneath in behind the bumper. To install the passenger side vent, the Audio and NAV system needs to all come out as the supporting brackets are in the way. Off comes some trunk trim, the Audio and NAV system, and then finally the rear bumper. There are 3 press-in-type plastic fasteners holding the rear bumper to the rear wheel liner, they are a pain to remove unless you remove the rear wheels. 3 nuts on each chassis leg inside the trunk come off, unplug the PDC sensor, some careful pulling on the bumper and she's off The old vents are removed by pressing in the bottom 3 clips from in between where the bumper sits and the lower rear quarter panel. E39's are getting on so these vents where well stuck even with the lower clips pressed in. A rubber mallet and some hitting did the trick. The old vent about to get the bash : Pic of the old vent removed, and Audio and Nav gear brackets removed, and the wirey mess left behind. Installation of the rear bumper can be tedious with one person, but can be done. The 3 nuts attaching the bumper support to the car can be loosened to adjust how much gap you have between the bumper, and the lower tail panel. Recommend putting some masking tape around the rear quarter panel edges to protect the paint work.

Sorry, unless you're claiming well in excess of 450hp, I call bollocks. Or post a measured 12.1 sec 1/4 and prove me wrong. I'll be seriously impressed if you can.

Years ago ( I know..I know..alright the mid 80`s) I worked at Cooper Hendersons in ChCh on the `Finance side`. One day this older bloke came in and said that he was after a decent Mitsi Mirage for him and his wife.. Obviously we were up to our necks in them, and did our best to get him into one. However he spent most of the day cruising up and down Moorhouse Ave test driving other cars, then bringing them in to us to see what we thought. We had made the fatal mistake of letting him become our friend. Late in the afternoon he turned up in a 280 z jap inport that he had bought from Cockram Nissan. We knew that they had had the vehicle in question( Trade in) for quite some time, and would be celebrating wildly. It was a sort of dark red with crimson velour upholstery, and, of course, the mirrors on the front guards. We never saw him again and we often wondered what had happened to him when he got home and showed his wife what he had bought.

I think it's auto and from my experience, streets slower than a 328i. In fact, as a reference, I once beat one easily in our old Pulsar GTi. That was in about 2004, the guy looked like he'd still be disappointed now.

You're all assuming he's actually got some money and isn't just a trolling tyre kicker.

Mate - with the $3.5k you've saved you can get new rims and a respray! Hell, throw some more $$$ at it, fit ATBs, an exhaust and an aftermarket EMS, and it'll make more power than a 328.

Cant say im really clued up on M50 vs M52 power mods but I myself would still take the M50 robustness over M52. Some good headers and a remap probably still going to be the best valve $ for power and that's all id personally probably do, even that seems a waste unless you are converting it to manual as the auto going to suck power and just be generally sh*t. Shocks\springs and wheels\tyres are what i start with. Haven't really looked into pricing for E36's but would think you'd be able to get a new set of sport shocks for <1k landed from overseas at places like shox.com. Should be plenty of options for springs locally or maybe you could get spring\shock package for a good deal second hand or overseas if shipping and GST aint too bad.

First time ive seen Canada version E36 Not the greatest rims yeah but think they look ok, If the interior is tidy and motor is good then a few spray cans to for colour code the sides and spend the rest on new shocks\springs\tyres etc. Done.

get off the stuff your are on. Banana's are not yellow they are green. you can make them red and black too if you fancy the colours. Bannas are green, roses are black, the sky is sunny screw you blue I want that car. there is a ditch near allans house with my name on it, I gotta erase the ditch by a blood sacrifice which involves an african negro witch doctor, a cow, an german pron star, and an japanese student. its the only way according to locals.

Didn't you buy an F10 M5 last year some time, Raj? Have you sold it or adding to your collection?

Excellent. Will free up more opportunities for those of us that want the car for its performance and enjoyability, not for the wank factor.
