surely market forces decides wouldn't you say...not much point shippin' cars with manual boxes around the world if people don't want 'em. Lets face it, 95% of ALL new car buyers, want the ease and convenience of an auto... which is a pity of course for us "poor" folks who love a manual. I had an E46 330 Manual once...took me nearly 6 months to sell it cause nobody wanted a manual, it was only a sedan, and had done 150k but still...oh well

I actually find it difficult to park straight in a BMW. Really wierd.

Still have it Dan from a 2003 M5 including the diff, 6 speed manual gearbox, driveshaft, sub frames and half shafts. Can even do an M62 4.4 litre engine, obviously the engine is not from the same car.

NZ market not large enough to warrant pushing them and with all the fancy buttons to boot with an auto. Plenty in the UK as fleet cars and they appear to be lower spec if you find a NZ one it will have had the manual box ticked when ordered from new or requested as such when imported. Why not just buy a 330 auto and convert it to manual that's what Ii did in the end when looking for a manual 325 compact.

To be clear I'm not saying anything bad about auto boxes - I just don't want one.

I say do what you want - it's your car. Likely could use some suspension work anyway :-)

Yea yea, I know - just in the listing bit it has it as 'automatic', which cracked me up, regardless of SMG etc........personally I'd prefer a E39 M5...........to me the E60's look bulky & I dunno, theres something 'weird' about their styling that doesn't spin my wheels for me - its not as if its been given a good hiding with 'the ugly stick', but I dunno, I wouldn't call it gorgeous looking...............to be fair some colours look better / worse than others though IMO........and its technically complicated if / when anything goes wrong......I'm sure its quicker than a E39, & more refined yada yada yada, but they're missing some 'soul' or something IMO....... Hard to explain..........

The m62tu will do mega miles (my old one now on 310k)and still running strong, vanos never touched except for when the static cam timing was set during the chain guide job. In its day it was a high performance engine especially compared to ford and holden v8's back then which were of larger displacement and still outputting less power and torque. 400nm of torque available from a 4.4 at 1300rpm is an amazing accomplishment back in september 98. Like any performance car you gotta put up with special maintenance if you want it to last.
