I'd wait for Jekyll to come back with some info on the loopy loops. That's your only real option.

Write a letter as soon as you can. Explain how you are unfamilar with the car and explain the type of car, ie- no TC, older tyres...etc all the reasons why this might have happened. Hope. If you are really keen you can get a lawyer to draft it for you, legal letterhead does hold weight. End of the day I believe they will weigh up your previous record and may get input from the ticketing officer. It's your only low cost / no cost alternative to defending in court (which i wouldn't recommend). If it goes to court you will loose and it will cost you more. ps - your sig here isn't helping your cause. or was that a demonstration of how it's done properly?

Owned 5th gen Prelude Type-S, An Integra Type R, A Euro R and various other non-R Hondas.... and i currently own an M3 in that price range. Apples and sausages, cant even compare them. Honda is FAR easier than an old BMW to live with daily and a type R will out handle, and likely out drive any BMW you can buy for 16K. You dont like FWD Hondas? Thats your loss, but dont go rubbishing them without knowing what youre talking about. To the OP, good luck with the sale. Its well priced for a tidy facelift, especially in something other than white. Shouldnt take long to shift.

Would love to know where you plan on finding an 05 m3 for 16k Unless of course you are comparing a car that is 14 years older than this one? in which case its really apples and oranges. I love bmws as much as anyone else but some people need to get.off their high horse and realise that bmws arent the pinacle of motoring. This is a for sale thread. If you arent buying or being constructive then dont comment. Nzhondas.co.nz love trolls so plenty of room over there.

So to summarise for OP dont buy your wofe a car. Sge is most likely human and humans will crash the car 100% of the time. Volvos have class leading safety features but dont be fooled this is only because when power is delivered to the front wheels the car will most likely just explode. Best option is to ship the family off to a hippie commune and take plenty of tin foil to make hats.

Love or loathe the Volvo, it does seem interesting that the bulk of the forum content of late seems to be centered around bashing other peoples preferences. Maybe I'm being a bit sensitive, but, from my observation, it seems we've gone away from being a place to ask advice on maintenance, float ideas for potential projects and sharing progress reports on projects to being a thinly veiled troll-fest interspersed with the odd photo gallery of pics from the latest meet. I'm not suggesting for a second that peoples opinions be censored, nor that my opinion is worth more than anyone elses ( It's not. I'll happily admit I know f**k all about anything!!) just observing the shift from how the forum used to be when I first joined 5ish years ago to how it is now. Or am I just getting too old for the internets??

That's actually Ron's point, I think. Any time spent on the open road will show you plenty of examples of people who are negligent, or just plain incompetent behind the wheel. You've all seen them, surprised by corners, surprised by other vehicles, braking on a straight for no reason. Driving at 75km/h, then 120, then 85. Driving is an activity that actually requires some attention to what you're doing. Having agreed with that bit, we have a FWD car that is completely at home on the open road and I don't like the Volvo! But I don't have to drive it, so if Clinton is happy, go for it. We all know you'll sell it in 3 months anyway.

BDM tested and working ... Holy crap is this thing fast!!! Less than 11 seconds to do a full dump of both chips!!! This versus over obd2 of 9 minutes for a partial dump and over 30minutes for a full dump. Have now created a mss54 without ews, no speed limit, sport mode memory, and shift lights for 6 speed manual. Going to dial back the flash counter on this one also back to 1

I have a 4 spoke srs wheel on my 328i, ever since I got the car it felt not as comfortable or sharp as my 318is. So I finally decided to swap out the non airbag 3 spoke steering wheel from my 1992 318is into my 328is, I cant tell if its slightly smaller but had to ask, anybody here prefer the 3 spoke over the 4? does it handle better/feels better overall?

Video yourself doing some proper skids in a crowded pedestrian street so you can explain the difference between your accidental non-dangerous skid compared to some bad-ass dangerous ones that you like to do on the weekend. The opinions of internet troll, jeffbebe are in no way shared by me nor do I condone this kind of behaviour.

Jesus christ I do not need this sh*t first thing in the morning, I have better things to do than clean up a thread. OP Good luck selling your Honda, everyone else has recieved a whack with the warning stick for being dicks.

lol 12k - 3k for wheels and tyres = 9k. not even that unreasonable of an offer tbh. all good tho

Ive had plastic before but they were properly hard phenolic plastic. Much harder than alloy. I would be wary about mixing to many indifferent metals in a hot damp enviroment where static charge can be present. Stainless holds a 0.4v anodic difference to aluminium and 0.35v to cast iron. Which is quite bad for generating galvanic corrosion. Cast iron to alloy is 0.05v so very little reaction. For this reason i would go for alloy as with stainless the expected corrosion can seize a wheel onto the hub and long term damage the wheel.

Thats exactly the kind of thing that would annoy the hell out of me and have me demanding a court appearance to try yak my way out of it to a judge. Even if it did cost a day off work and $100+ in court cost. $600 seems unreasonable and ott. How does "annoying" make it into law outside playing your black sabbath too loud on your new aiwa midi system at 2am at home on a thursday morning? Pretty vague and subjective. If id done it deliberately and been snapped id wear it. Seems quite a sharp cost for a genuine accidental skid though.

Dont bother with the rubbish this kid is crapping on about. Just write in a nice, level headed, cool, calm and collected letter. If they let you off, cool, if they dont, chalk it up to experience.
  22. 1 point
Actually you were the first person to compare it to an m3.

i concur, write in, advise of bad weather conditions. Maybe it was a combination of some standing water, old narrow tires and possibly some slippery road grime? Sounds like a pretty raw deal if you backed off and straightened up as soon as it happened.

Haha I live on a farm! All my daughters toys in there, she wasn't in the car. On a better note, here is meh taking control of an M4 with no love from technology, no DSC nothing with full power under there.. Perfecto if ya ask me.. Esp for a women https://vimeo.com/102100120

Jesus Christ. That thing is filthy! Look at the crap all over the bumpers.. Mad photo's, is that you in there rescuing your teddy-bears?

Well. I had only had my license for a couple of weeks. It was my first car I bought for myself that wasn't half of the BFs and it was a 318is (dont forget that extra power haha) Not being experienced, and never learning how to correct a slide out.. I came around a corner a little to quick in the wet, back end went out and as I tried to correct it, not knowing how, I went over a catseye, slicing my tyre which then directed my car into a concrete wall, hit it, flipped and slid back down the hill I was meant to be going up. I was going so slow that my airbags didnt even deploy.. Although can't trust them at their age anyway... I was NOT charged with anything, despite an investigation because the Police believe the cause of the crash was due to 'environmental' and 'car' errors. Past the point, it can happen. I am fortunate to be an great driver now. And can confidently say that if I can control an M4 on the Skid pad, Id never make that stupid mistake again. Its the driver, not always the car.

An e36? No great loss then.. So, dumbass, how did you manage all that at 45K? Chances are you probably won't be scrambling around on the ceiling of your car, at the bottom of a hill, after stacking into a concrete wall again anytime soon I imagine. Human nature to slip up anyway, that's what accidents are generally. Thankfully the majority of us get to walk away and laugh it off and have the sense of recollection to not do the same again. You can only make things so safe but in the end it boils down to human involvement and the dumbfu@#ery (intentional or not) we're prone too now and then. It only really goes all wrong when we drift across the center lane, cycle into the path of trucks, or leap out of hot air balloons or suchlike when the odds really are stacked against us. Falling off the road or being T-boned by a speeding out of control cement truck isn't something anyone considers before they reverse out their driveway in the morning. I imagine most of us have driven enough FWD, RWD, nice cars, sh!t cars to know we're only capable of controlling what we're in control of. And we know if we screw up there's consequences. Modern red Volvo, looks as safe as anything else to me.

They are normally pretty reasonable. If you can say its a new car in poor weather and it was an accident. However if you have a long history of being a twat in a car then they wont be kind.

En-route home now. Currently at LAX. Went to Target and bought 125sq feet of bubble wrap for all my purchases whilst away Of course the spoiler received a liberal dose of this and is now sitting somewhere in the airport boxed up... Opened it to check for damage etc.. This is my first "real" carbon accessory. Wow, wasn't expecting it to be THAT light. You really can't beat OEM quality, and for $450US as opposed to the $750NZ I was quoted it's all good. (No extra charge for luggage or oversize/fragile) The weave is perfect, I'll go with the old cliché of "it's a work of art". An update with the car, parts are still a couple of days away. Christ, been almost 6 WEEKS! That's what you get for ex-Germany I guess. Once they arrive, 2-3 days at Taylor Automotive, and 2-3 days at Team McMillan (so I'm told).

Bit passive aggressive there. All the guy was doing was sharing a pic of his new family hack. I didn't read that as an invitation for you to spout a diatribe on your own wagon which won't fall off the road at 80kph like a Hyundai will at 60. Awesome.

Goal will always be to fit the S62 and manual but that could be some time away so I'd like the V12 running as it should in the meantime.
