Original plan always an E34 manual but i never saw any good candidates. I found this E39 528i factory manual and thought id turn my existing wannabe 530i motorsport into eventually an improved version of the actual one. Benefits of this are fairly obvious - M54B30 power. I can retain much of the work and $ spent ive done on my existing car and don't have to do it all again on another unknown car. I like my car colour and don't want to own another silver BMW especially one which has a grey interior (528i has both). Buying the extra motorsport bits shouldn't be hard or expensive given these cars are plentiful and worth jack so it should help keep costs down. The swap seems fairly straight forward. The coding side of it appears relatively easy with my MS43 DME. May be some small pedal issues as they appear to have changed things around in Sept '97. Possibly a little wiring and\or a few plug changes to get the drive by wire working etc with pedals for cruise control etc. Will deal with the issues when i come to them as using early M52 manual setup is a little different to the M54 auto and not properly documented as far as ive looked. Plan is sort of a 3 stage deal given i don't want the car off the road for long periods at a time. 1. Remove 528i gearbox etc and my 530i engine and transmission to fix up some small oil leaks. Fit M-suspension bigger swaybars whilst its out. Fit manual box with all new shifter bushings with E60 shorter shifter and ZHP knob. Replace all driveline and clutch components (apparently the PO has a new clutch with single mass flywheel installed not long ago so i shouldn't have to worry about that part). 2. Sort some upgraded springs and dampeners. Will look into rebuilding my KW coilovers i have here with Koni adjustable inserts but will look at other options if too expensive with the added cert. 3. Black motorsport interior to replace my beige one as most sports seats seem to be black on these. Then lastly put back in what BMW accountants took out - the LSD experience. I will start dismantling the 528i tomorrow to find out what parts i need and will commence work once they arrive. In the mean time im happy enough driving an old 5 series manual again.

Hey hey everyone long time no post, so alot has happened since last year. Long story short i made a big F@#K up with the manual swap. So the PMC kit does work with the zf 310 box i have, so does the flywheel but the clutch side is where i went wrong. The clutch kit that came with it is made for the zf 39dz box (which i also do have) which states on the PMC website also. The difference is the input shaft and sleeve are bigger on this box same as the 420g boxes, compared to the zf 310 one. Zf 310 input shaft Zf 39dz box So a few months back notices a release bearing was making a noise, thought that isnt right but kept running the with it. Wasnt till two weekends ago it completely shat itself. Was driving to auckland and all the sudden it wouldn't let me select any gears luckily i was stopping in Waiouru visiting a mate, he lent me his Suzuki swift for the remainder of the trip. Towed the car back home and took the box off to find this. Release bearing was completely wrecked. Further investigating i found the pressure plate is also not releasing at all which explains the no gear selecting but at least Friction plate is still mint like new. the left one is the correct release bearing the right is the broken wrong size one. as you can see the input shaft holes a different. The right is the M30 clutch that i got and will be using. Also I think the slave cylinder rod might have been slightly too long as you can just make out where the release bearing was grinding on the little prongs. The fingers and diaphragm may have been over extended causing the pressure plate to fail. So yeah lesson learnt there. Big plans ahead for all my projects though. I have brought a factory zf 310 box with v8 bellhousing from ebay ( currently at customs) this will be replacing the one in the e34 sedan. I also brought a lighten chrome molly flywheel from RHD engineering. Brought a 2nd hand M30b35 clutch kit that's needed to fit onto the RHD flywheel. This will hopefully get the car running mint and i will be able pop up to see Gavin in early April for a tune. Hope to meet up with you Ian and Nathan keen to check out your rides Also along with the zf 310 v8 box, i scored myself a 420g 6 speed box and associated bits. After some time to think i really want to keep the E34 540i touring factory as possible as i dont want to butcher such a nice clean example. So all i will be changing on it is converting it to a manual, so no more supercharger for that car. But here comes the fun part, You all may remember a build thread from Eddie, his e46 v8 wagon? well i will soon be the proud owner of it. I have test driven it and man has he done one of an amazing job on making it look and drive factory with the M60b30 v8. My plans are to drop my spare M60b40 into it. Convert it to manual with the PMC adapter kit and Zf 39dz box, and lastly super charge it with the one i was going to use for the touring, fun times ahead. Thanks Eddie for doing the hard part of mounting the thing in and sorting the oil pump issue. Also picked up a few things while up in Auckland. A whole 330i rear end going into the new e46 wagon These rare 10 inch rear ac schnitzer wheels which will go on one of the e34 cars. fronts 8.5 Also in the time passed i managed to get the Hamann's centers finally machined to fit the 3piece barrels. Just need to redrill the bolt holes and get it powder coated. Looking forward to bring you guys more updates. Thanks Richard

Ever had that wiring job and ended up with heaps of soldered joins and strips of heat shrink. While adding a few interior goodies to Tim 325 this was the case after a bit if mucking around and a few wrecked connectors and terminals. Came up with this hope it is of help to some body. terminal removal.docx

Hey Team Long time no post, As i have a couple projects going at one time i have share my time between them all. Some of you may have seen my other e34 project build thread which is taking most of my time up now a days only due to me waiting on the engineer to start on my V12 motor, but i have given him a month to start something as it's almost been a year and half since i drop the motor off. If nothing happens in a months time i will be pulling pin on him. I have found a guy over in Aussie. Guys name Rama he owns and runs RHD engineering and makes ITB's galore. So either way excited that this project is heading somewhere again. So in the mean time other things semi related to this build have happen. You all must know _ethrty-andy_ well i saw he was selling one of his do a uppers on trade me for $1 reserve. This puppy i managed to win. had a few bits needed to be done to make road worthy, ( still not) So me and the boys took all the running gear from the gearbox back to whole rear end out of the sedan and swapped it all into this coupe. Now its a manual 328i, there are a few little bits to finish off then ill sell it to fund this Its a e46 touring with a v8 swap. So i hope you guys dont mind this build thread will home two projects now. re-titled Project Twin E46's In short plans are to swap the 4lt v8 in as it has a 3lt one, convert to manual and supercharge it. I still wanted the sedan to be rollable so managed to bolt the m3 rear end in minus the diff. doesn't that look nice. checked the rear subframe and no cracks but still intend to weld the reinforcement plates in at some point. Looking forward to bring more updates. Thanks Richard

I flashed MHD tune without any power supply/charger at all. But, I knew my battery was healthy and charged. I also flashed CIC (about 30min) and EGS (5min but takes a bit of prep for Alpina flash) the same way.

Hi team. It’s been a long time but I’m back. Recently purchased my dream car - E92 M3 Competition Pack. I’ve been searching for two years and although this one didn’t quite tick all of the boxes - I didn’t want white but at least it’s not black - I live in Northland - it did tick most of the boxes and I’m very happy with it so far. 2010 with up graded combox which allows for Bluetooth music streaming. Now, I’m not a techno nerd but I’m kinda useful in the techno department but, I simply cannot get this thing to stream music from my phone. The previous owner could. I can play music via CD, by saving music to the hard drive, via USB from my phone, but not via Bluetooth. The previous owner had an iPhone X, I have an iPhone 5. Is that the problem or am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help forth coming.

Sorry @qube Kyu, it's been so long. Here's something approximating a rear 3/4 shot, from November 2018... Lachsilber goodness ?

Update. Department of Beep Beep! Some horn material, yesterday. Brought to you by the department of bad puns. A friend kindly dug these out of his parts stash. A pair of 325i Fiamm horns, one high, one low, complete with brackets. Along with a couple of connector shells, sans pins. (I must be) need a couple of nuts. And either there will be good fortune when I get underneath it and all the wiring is there to plug into, or I'll find those crazy Germans put in different looms. In which case I'll need to find the right pins for the connector shells, and make up some cabling to run from the central 'meep meep' horn to these PaaaaarrrrRRRRPPP horns. One goes on the Right side, and one on the Left (or wrong) side. Depending on your viewpoint. Wish me Luck! @adro next time we catch up I'd like to have a look around your SE to see how it's been done. Other things... Twirly thing I lucked-out, and nabbed a three-spoke leather OEM Sports Steering Wheel (aka SE wheel) from the book of faces, recently. It's pretty tidy, was just a bit faded. I've cleaned it, given it a couple of coats of black leather toner, followed by two coats of leather protectant, and a couple of coats of Elephant Leather preservative. I'll get it onto the car soon. Being fastidious, I've ordered a new locknut. ? Graunch in suspension. The Graunch of Suspension Wood, has been diagnosed by Jon at Auto38. Inner tie rod. I'm going for gold, and we're going to do tie rods, wishbones, lollipop bushes, and replace the steering guibo. I'll install the 20mm front bar, with new bushes & Meyle HD end links. That'll do for the next couple of months while I refurbish the Style 5 rims, and then the 51mm strut housings. This work will get it steering straight and true, and eliminate older (as in 15-20 years, probably) bushings and balljoints. Jon spanner-checked it, and it's a bit 'tighter'. The rest of it (excepting the tie rod) is all still WoF standard, though I want the front to feel as good as the rear end now does. Strut Housings Of the strut housings, thanks to @gjm & @_ethrty-Andy_ for the Bimmersport Good Bstard Express™ assistance from @nick496's. I have all the parts for the strut builds, including new wheel bearings. Just need to sort springs. Sampling @adro's SE last week, I think I'll be able to live with HR Sport Springs to match with the Koni Yellows 8641-1210 Sport (front), & 80-2522 (rear). Abrasives and PPE I've ordered new filters for my 3M mask, and a bunch of abrasives to use with my Dremel and handpiece. It's going to be slow and steady prepping those buggers for paint. I've a large box to lash up a paint booth out of, and an old office chair that I plan to make a wheel spinner out of. Need to figure ensure all rims are true before I start (a precaution only), and cut the valve stems out. Questions about paint Now to source paint for the wheels. Thought about standard Wheel Paint (Felgen Silver) with clear. Nah, I'll get Granitsilber mixed up in aerosols, and clear coat. I liked the idea of Nogaro Silver, but it's darker and too close to Lachssilber. I'll pay a lunchtime visit to Union Hardware soon to source paint. Just thought, though... I have an airbrush compressor, and an airbrush I've little experience with... though it'd probably take an age to paint wheels with an airbrush, eh? Paint would be going off while I'm still painting. I'll keep it simple and go with aerosols, no clean-up. For the strut housings, I'm going to strip them down, rust preventative, etch prime, and two coats of Rustoleum gloss black. Questions - Paint: If you've thoughts or tips about painting my wheels, please let me know. 1k vs 2k, type of paint to withstand wheel heat, etc. Questions - Horns: If you know what bolt/nut, or in particular what the connector pins are for the horn connector shells, please let me know!
