Hey so i thought I'd share my latest retrofit project. Couple of my mates have f8X m cars after seeing the seats i wondered if they fit the e92. I couldn't find any info or even pictures on google. After acquiring some from a damaged f80 i got to work trying to fit them. At first i was pleased to find they bolted directly in. I swapped the connectors from f80-e92. With only 5 wires(power,canbus,lighting). It was easy to swap. The car did not like the f80 seat module at all and quickly rejected it. Because of the can protocol between the chassis. And with the canbus connection removed the wake up signal was no longer being conveyed and after 10sec the seat shut down. Luckily the passenger seat was simply a high current switch. All worked as it should except the heated seats. Using the e92 seat module i use it to simply work the heated seats instead of all other seat functions it used too. After playing around it was looking as though it would not be possible aside from a can emulator that would relay the wake up signal. However this isn't easy. I was running out of ideas. I brought a very cheap pair of seats from a x1 at first for parts but then noticed it used the same style of connectors as the f80 but the car was only a 2010. Part of a total fluke i tested the module out and to my surprise it worked. It was enough to makes the seat stay awake however no heated seats because the x1 seats weren't heated. After that i was stoked and immediately sourced the heated version of the same module which worked perfectly. Only last remaining problem is because they were from a 4 door the seats do not release forward which is a problem in a 2 door so ill order the parts and try convert them?

As the perceived value of the E30 M3 has increased so much recently, I have decided that replacing my standard pattern gearbox with a dogleg and matching diff is a viable option. Can anyone help with tracking both down? Cheers Don

it was a few years ago now but I found a great deal on Amazon where it was less expensive to buy the shocks (B6 or B8) and springs (Pro-Plus or Sport-Plus) separately and you get sway bars thrown in whereas the B12 kit doesn't come with bars (IIRC). Admittedly, I missed the initial price drop sale and had to wait about 3 months for another sale so no good if you're in a hurry. Also the shocks and springs/bars didn't go on sale at the same time so it can be a bit of a pain if you need it all together. All up the invoice was less than NZ$1000 (but I ended up paying less than NZ$500 which is another story). I had to drop-ship them via LA to get them to NZ (I used kiwishipping.co.nz). Airfreight on these is expensive and a boat is slow so another compromise required there. If you can find what you're looking for on Amazon you can set up a price watch with https://camelcamelcamel.com/ which is what I did and just waited... If you have 18" wheels or use the car as a daily you might want to consider the B6's over the B8 (which is what comes in the B12 kit) as they're less aggressive. I have the B6 + Pro-Plus combo and am very, very happy - car should have come like this from the factory. A heavy shipment like these is 99.99% assured of getting stopped and pinged for GST (plus admin costs) unfortunately.

double check the length make sure not too long should have some slack . 6cyl engine sit 25mm further back than 4cyl so shaft needs to be shorter as do the shifter parts etc check the uni joints on the shaft have not seized etc

Hey Everyone We have finally got some action going! called up the engineers and as promised he had started some work on the heads. Popped in to have a look and he didn't disappoint, so excited to finally get this build back on track. One of the heads in the CNC machine getting the intake and exhaust ports done, not sure on specs but looks to be 2-3mm of porting done. a view of some of the exhaust ports Yet to be machined. Machined Intake side. A comparison of one done and factory. Billet blocks to be machined into the throttle housing. Throttle plates and the trumpets that will be going on top So thats it for now, Engineer was originally going to weld and make the intake adapter plate by hand but has now decided to machine it out of a solid billet piece. Regrind factory cams and find some stronger valve springs to suit. can't wait to see more of this build taking shape. Thanks Richard

No, that's about what ZF boxes go for. Expect to pay $1500-$1800 for a complete conversion kit for a ZF box, that includes the flywheel, clutch, pedals, linkages etc. or at least $700 - $800 for the box on it's own, that's about where the market price is. Getrag boxes are cheaper but not as strong. Having said that, I had a Getrag 220 box in my E36 328i that I punished severely, and it never failed on me. So if you want to save $$$ now, you'll have to go Getrag. If you want to potentially save bigger $$$ later on, spend more now on a ZF setup.
