Hey Team So spent the weekend just been at Austins place where Brents old car was. Dismantle what i wanted from the car and managed to jack up a deal with Austins cousin thats also has a few e34's he's restoring, so onsold the body to him and paid the difference to Austin for the set of exhaust manifolds. Austin doing some final mock up with the headers, they were very snug against the driverside of the gearbox, we had to shave a bit off the side of the box to leave 2-3mm gap. Other than that awesome looking set of headers.

Car looks good Brad. I'm pretty sure the owner after me didn't treat it as I had. Damn I loved the wheels that were on it. Take the contours off though, not right, not right at all??

The vanos had been getting progressively worse over the past few weeks so I had to do something about it quickly. I considered doing the job as I had done it previously but decided against it as I don't have the time to do it myself. Kayne Barrie did a wonderful job of rebuilding the unit doing both the seals and rattle kit and it's now running pretty mint. Not sure why but my unit (like some others) was filled with orange silicone.. I've read that this was BMW's approved method of keeping the solenoids from popping out at the time? Anyways, all running smooth now!

Given that BMW won't make an M3 Touring (but seems happy to build a worse riding and less practical SUV version, and thinks that wagon buyers will cross shop to an SUV), I think my next (and likely last non-electric) car will be one of these - in Alpina blue. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/frankfurt-motor-show/alpinas-455bhp-b3-touring-m3-wagon-bmw-wont-make

Mine too. Somebody told me that in NZ (not sure about other countries) dealers injected it at an Inspection II as a preventative measure (to stop the covers blowing off once the solenoid seals failed). There was apparently no customer notification (how arrogant of any company, to do something to somebody's property and then elect not to tell them). So, I suppose the good news is that it was being serviced properly by the owner at the time.

Thanks man, I’m in no rush to sell. The right buyer will come ?

I'd jump down the throat of $500 and wouldn't even consider prepping it myself for that. Seems like a sharp price. What do you have to remove from the alu doors? And then it's just the indicator and two trim pieces per side, 5 mins work.

Fed the M5 a nice shiney new set of injectors, also got a package from Germany full of new sheet metal for the E21!

Well the weather sucks so I'm not getting under the bonnet today. But now I'm suspecting the head gasket is fine, not burning any water. And medium oil loss from what looks like the exhaust side of the rocker cover. Given the heat and angle, it probably leaks a bit and is the cause of the smell. But it starts fine, runs fine, doesn't overheat, only warning light is overdue service, and has what I suspect is pretty standard around town fuel, averaging around 10L/100k. Gave it a dry wof run, only faults are delamination on a tyre, dodgy looking power steering hose and an indicator light. Quietly hopeful to have this girl on the road for a total cost of well under trademe prices. God damn I love the aggressive lines down the sides.
