Looking for tips and ideas to fit out a shed. What have you done to yours or for someone else to make it more functional, comfortable, awesome? Looking at flooring options. Work bench and storage options/tips. Did you line it? What sort of lighting did you put in? Did you put water in? Security features? Wheel racks? My garage will be around 10.5 x 7.5. 3 Bays. 2 x Car and 1 x Wshop. I'm only going 2.4 stud as i'm not putting in a hoist (prob just quick jacks).

Installed the headers again and trimmed them all to the same length ready for collectors to go on. Performed some volume measurements of all the tubes using water to get a feel for how things compared to the plastic mockups length wise. Bank 1 was a max of 12mm variation and bank 2 was 34mm. Would be very interesting to know the actual centreline length but that's just too hard. Based on length averages across each bank the plastic vs real length was a variation of 12mm again for bank 1 and 5mm for bank 2. The water filling process also identified two pinholes which i will need to address. Also decided to get the brakes sorted so adjusted the handbrake and then made a DIY vacuum bleeder setup. This was a 3D printed lid for a glass jar that i taped on Worked fairly well ... just used the wet/dry vacuum. Pedal is still not feeling right so will need to get more fluid and give it another round the old fashioned way. Have been in touch with my certifier and good news is I only need one loop for the drive shaft so have procured that and will start designing the transmission cross member and mount which will ideally incorporate the loop so I don't need to mount through the floor.

That's the one. My memory is a bit hazy as it was a few years ago but i think part of the valve was inside the hole in the block as well. If you post some pics of it here when you have removed the vac pipe from the block, it might jog my memory a bit. The part number is 11664725082

I've had a bit of experience with the vacuum systems on the n57. On one vehicle i found there was a check valve in the vacuum line near where it enters the sump. Tried to get a new valve but it was ex Germany (2 month wait) so i ended up disassembling the valve. I found it was full of carbon, (probably due to the ridiculously long BMW service intervals) so i cleaned it and refitted. That fixed the issue. I'll try to find the valve on ETK and get you a part number. Could be worth checking on your car. FYI, i remember it was a real prick to get at the valve, so prepare yourself for some cursing and anger.

I've used Driscoll Motors on Walter Street for general servicing for many years ... do wish Auto38 was still here in Welly of course though - Jon is brilliant.

No update for quite some time but things have been happening (quit my job just before Christmas, last day yesterday and have 3 weeks off before starting a new one in Feb... garage time...) and the Biarritz has been the main beneficiary... It now has better front seats fitted, a facelift steering wheel, windows that work, better grilles, the spare M5 wheels have been painted an Audi Mineral Gray and fitted, the spare M5 mirrors have been painted, and a mate gave me a front bumper in need of repairs etc. that is better than the existing. So I'm at the stage where fitting is about to happen... Also some vanos seals have been ordered, and next week I think I'll crack into the chain guides replacement. I need a daily work car for the new job and this one will be it I think, the others as backup... The Titan has developed an annoying oil leak that I can't quite sus, either a upper sump or lower timing cover, or maybe a bent lower sump. I've put it away in storage and forgotten about it for a while. I really need to fix that and a couple of paint defects before selling.

Just cover it in used engine / gearbox oil now, saves time later, you know it’s gonna happen at some point. 😊 That’s the main reason I don’t use garage carpet - it’s a “working” garage and too much stuff would get spilt and ground into it. Hard wearing epoxy type paint for me every time.

    Would strongly suggest a hoist...
