  8. Yes ... original battery 1997 car....11 year old battery... I would suggest people check theirs... clean up cost more than the battery
  9. Yes BMW's can explode on start up. This happened to a customer this morning. Got in the car, tried to start and ...... BANG was lucky that none of the control units went down with it. Funny, with all that battery damage, the ignition lights still came on...BTW: It was towed into us...not driven
  10. Its an earth. You put it on the stud after you fit the rocker cover, under the nut

  12. This is the result of not listening. We checked the VW passat out a few months ago. And advised a proper check as we suspected a leaking head gasket. Came in yesterday and this is the result...TERMINAL The head is away getting checked.. probably a waste of time. Cracks in block on No2 cylinder No second hand motor available in NZ

This is one of the repairs we had to do to get it rewarranted & registered...which has all been done now We had to fit a new ACS control unit New one was $7,800 +GST We ordered a RMF one, however when it turned up, it was brand new Cost $3,600 + GST A new hydraulic accumulator was also fitted New shocks (Bilstein) New drive belts , adjust headlights, change brake fluid was also required This is where it fits Master cylinder & hydraulic booster out first This is the control unit We have also replaced the roundels ( for the eagles )

  18. I have a funny feeling you guys are being put to the test here. I think Portnoy is testing you on your E30 knowledge. No criticism intended... just my observation
  19. Pre 1998 E36 wiring can be split. Remove E36 DME & EGS computers and loom from the system. ABS, SRS and body systems will still operate seperately. Not a big deal.
  20. If you have high fuel consumption, which will fowl the spark plugs, check your air flow meter and make sure the vane isn't sticking....failing that, get it checked properly by someone who knows what they are doing
