Depending on your car you can get the center price of the bumper to have a euro one instead of the kiwi one.

Do mtech1 sides fit facelift cars ? I for some reason though mtech1 are for pre f/l and mtech2 are for post f/l, but are they interchangable ? [edit] Sorry Im talking four door here.

As someone who has driven lots of 7's with 15', 16', 17' and 18' wheels, this has to be one of the funniest things Ive ever heard. What I hope you meant when you said 'not designed for 18 inch wheels' was that it wasnt right to have 35 profiles.

Hahaha never trust a tyre shop to get it right.....of course they should, but always check your numbers first. I currently have 235/50/18 on the front with 255/45/18 on the rear with staggered m-pars, which is BMW standard for 18's on a 7 If you want larger you can have what I used to have (but was a little harsh on NZ roads) which was 255/45/18 on the front and 275/40/18 on the rear. No way should you have 35's on there. You should have a sticker on the car by the drivers door that tells you the correct sizes.

I just prefer the clean, smooth look rather than something with screws sticking out of it (even if they are covered with something) thats all !

The insurance companies are pretty savvy about this now. They dont care who is the registered owner they care about who is going to be the main driver. Be careful telling them anything that is not going to be the truth. If you need to claim and they can get out of it by saying that you didnt tell them that you were the main driver they will use it to their advantage. Accept it as a cost of ownership, getting a car is not just buying the car itself, include it in your budget and you wont notice it. Ive just had this with my nephew. I am the registered owner of his but as he is driving it they insure it based on him. Its a 316 aswell with no toys (but manual) and for him to have it third party fire and theft its 250 a year. I figured if 'he' writes it off then he only has himself to blame and he might be a little more careful. If nyone else is at fault then we are sorted. Good luck with the weekend drive and have some fun. An excellent first car if you ask me.

Its all a matter of opinion isnt it.I wouldnt want a set of racing wheels if you paid me. The price they eventually reached means different things to different people. There was a time when I was just starting out at work that I woudlve bought a whole car for that price. Nearly twenty years later and things are very different. All of a sudden it doesnt seem too much to have a genuine set of Alpinas. They are the only set of 16' Alpinas Ive seen in 2 1/2 years. There is a price for exclusivity.

Dont be drilling any holes in your plates ! Get yourself some double sided sitcky foam tape and stick them on. You would have a hard time trying to get mine off...never mind if you were in a hurry. You then have no holder sticking out and no holes in your plates

You mean the e39 ones ? I was certainly watching but they were an e39 fitment which wouldve meant hub rings if Id put them on anything else. Not much of a problem you might say, but I wouldnt have got them on an e30 without doing the whole 5-stud conversion thing which is just way too much money. I dont think they wouldve looked right on an e39 either, they were the 'original' style which to me has to be on an e34/e32 Call me picky

im still not sure I get your point.Say you buy it from new and then you have a reasonable amount to install etc, your still only talking 15k. To pick up an e39 M5 your going to be paying at least 3 times that....so just saving a little more and buying an M5 (which was your original comment) doesnt make sense to me, especially when this kit is currently at 4k (although I doubt it will sell).

I would have never picked you to be someone to buy p0rn on TradeMe Carl.......oh hold on.

Into week three.... Where's the rest of you ?

I dont disagree Tane. Im not saying we should agree on who is going to bid, I just dont want some muppet to bid it up with no intention of buying them.Weve all seen were that can lead. I have a limit like everyone does Im sure. I know what they cost to get shipped from the UK so I wont be going much over that.
-
Save a little more !How many M5's can you pick up for 4k Cain ? Id like to know what you consider a decent return. Id go from 286 to 407 bhp...thats a 40% increase and more than the e39 M5 puts out.

I agree with what your saying, Ive lost auctions too. I have contacted the guy and asked for more photos cause I want to see what the rest of the wheels (and more importantly the locking covers) look like. Dont know you needed to tell him how rare they are though So are we going to have any sort of agreement about 'genuine' bidding ? I know there are going to be lots of people interested in these and I will be taking knee caps off anyone who tries to bid it up unnecessarily

So tell us Andy are you in the market for a set of Alpinas ?
-
I suggest you do a search mate...this topic gets discussed at least four or fives times a year. The quick answer is no they are not technically legal, but there is no 'law' regarding plates only a white paper that says they have to be the same front and back, the same font and readable for 'x'metres for your warrant. If a police officer decides to pull you over though I dont know how you will get on.

So I need to drive everywhere in first gear then

Im not really after anything to be honest, but supercharges for 740's dont come around that often so its worthwhile finding out whether or not it would work for me.
