  1. Big thanks to Jim for sorting me out this morning with a set of tyres. After several discussions over the last couple of weeks I decided to ditch the Falken 255/45/18 & 275/40/18 combo for a set of Dunlop Sport 01's in 235/50/18 & 255/45/18's.....BMW recommended after all Anyone who does not use this man's services is a mug. Thanks mate.
  2. Great thanks Cain...looks like I will be saving my pennies ! Ive been chatting with this guy a little tonight. It appears that they are genuine, the 850 muffler tips were put on sideways to sit with the rear skirt better. He has also replied with the following when I asked about the inlet being 2" and my exhaust being 2.25", does this make sense to anyone, I know fcuk all about this sort of thing.... I would not be suprised if your piping is 2.25". I think Remus made the inlet at 2" to retain some back pressure (and also to minimise noise) as the flow of the muffler is greater than the factory muffler. The higher flow muffler with slighly reduced piping diameter will still provide you with a better overall flow over the factory setup. It is important to maintain some back pressure so you will not lose torque. In regard to fitting there should be no issues since the piping will connect to the resonator's flange. As long as an identicle flange (by re-using the same flange or new ones) it will bolt direct. One of my friend has a 1996 740i with M Sport front bumper and side skirts has Eissenmann exhaust (twin mufflers) on his car which also has 2" piping. He was lucky the car came with Eissenmann mufflers. ---- Now Ive spoken to the guy he says is on the North Shore about his Eissenmann exhaust and I know thats genuine. What do you guys think, shall I give them a go ?
  3. Thanks Cain,Im also not that convinced that they are genuine now Ive spent a few hours on the web. Ive so far not seen a single Remus muffler thats been square, they all have rounded edges. Ill ask the guy for some more info but for now I think Ill hold off. Let me know how you get on with Al's mufflers though, Im keen to look at a few options as it seems the likes of Remus, Eisenmann etc only come around once in a blue moon

    My Exhaust

Hmmmm best part of 18 cms, although not an exact science, its bloody hard getting someone of my size under a car !So roughly thats 7 inches which gives me around 2.22 inches. Unfortunately as exact as I would like, I may just have to take it somewhere to find out.
  5. Andrew that would be great, but if anyone else can make it some time this week Id appreciate hearing from you. Im off out to measure my diameters now !Here's a couple of pictures of what Im looking at. To me it looks like the tips are on sideways, not only is the Remus badging on the side and not the top but it really accentuates the 'staggered' look of the tips. Am I seeing things or do you all agree ? One Two Three Are the tips easily rotated ?
  6. Is there anyone who can check out a couple of mufflers for me on the North Shore ? Beers/renumeration will be forth coming obviously. Basically he says he has cleaned up the 'surface' rust and I want to make sure its only surface and not all the way through. So if there is someone who can help can you please PM me. Also does anyone know how much it would to get a pair of mufflers down to Wellington ? Many thanks.

    My Exhaust

Sorry yes I mean diameter.I have my eye on something in Auckland, but before I commit to anything I want to be sure they will fit. I know the inlet of the new ones is 2" but am not sure on mine. Ive checked the online parts catalogue but it only tells me that the clamps are 55mm which is 2.16 inches which doesnt really help, other than suggest they are more likely to be 2" This is more like it....

    My Exhaust

Without me having to get a tape measure and ruler does anyone know what width my exhaust pipes are likely to be ? Im looking at getting some new rear mufflers which have an inlet of 2' but am not sure if mine will be 2' or 2.25'
  9. Why am I not at all surprised about this Happy birthday Sparkle.
  10. A mate of mine was in the third carriage of the train bombed at Kings Cross. The bomb was in the first carriage.Needless to say he is looking at his options on getting into either Aussie or NZ.

    Body Roll

Yes they can be regassed, by a place in Auckland I believe. I cant remember the exact price though, but when I spoke to some guys in Palmie about doing it (they were Bilstein dealers) they had no concerns about the quality once it had been done. I have a couple of numbers in my head but it wouldnt be fair to you to just put them down here as I honestly cant remember how much it was. Call Vijay at Page, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

    Exhaust Tippings

You might want to check out the auctions this guy won in the last couple of weeks. He actually won an entire 850 twin exhaust with two sets of Remus tips for a competely ridiculous sum of money......85 bucks to be exact. Now less than two weeks later he has the balls to break them up and have one set of tips on for 350 and the resonator for 120!
  13. You might want to have a look at this aswell then....Custom Cradle
  14. Are you open to trying this Shadow ? Ipod your BMW Wish they did something like this for the E38's

    My 335i

The badge rocks mate, stick with it. At least it does what it says on the tin rather than a 318 badged as an Alpina or something ! There was a group of people in the States who changed their 750 badges to 754's
  20. Until you get yourself the leather sports seats
  21. I had the side bolster replaced for 200 nicker.Leather, I know, and a bigger seat, I know, at least its a price for you Can certainly recommend my leather guy but as you say your in some cloth stuff. I had a friend in the UK pick up some Alpina fabric pretty cheap have you thought about getting something like that from the UK and doing all of them ? Alternatively how abou asking the people at The Surgery. I know nothing about them but they do advertise in the BMW CC mag and they may well be able to recommend someone.

    Milans 7

Nice car mate, especially in the blue :-) Would love to hear more about what youve done audio wise to the car. Its one of the things on my to-do list as the sound from the seven is a little sad considering the cost of the car new ! Also where did you get the exhaust tips from and what did they set you back ? Cheers Martyn
  23. OH MAN. Mate Im gutted for you. One minute you have that easy feeling because your picking it up from the mechanic and you know it to be sweet and then your worst nightmare !!!
